Z-2,

Without in any way denigrating the truly excellent Blackland products may I suggest that you could, for the price of one of those gems,  have ten or more excellent GEM  razors with one or more for each curve and angle of your face.
Even if it is old and wrinkled and worn like mine.

Mickey

I don’t disagree one bit! I wasn’t here for a sales pitch. My question was an honest one with no ulterior motive. It seems to me that your daily driver should be the razor that works best and provides you a comfortable irritation-free shave without any fuss rather than forcing one to fit that role.

I think my skin is still healing from the one time I used a MMOC...back in 2011.

Shane.

I forced no one nor was it my intention to do so.
I apologize if I made you feel that way.

I have great respect for your product and now for you.

But I do have opinions formulated by my personal experiences
and I think that occasionally they might aid someone if they are aired respectfully.

And I do expect to be fairly criticized when I do that. I probably deserve that.
I mentioned your product because of its well known excellent quality.

Great minds may differ on the matter of strokes, I do well with the "long barber strokes" which is what ASR recommended.

give it a shot and see which one gives you better results, I do also enjoy longer strokes but once the blade loses its performance and I want to finish the shave without interrupting the shave by switching to another blade, then I switch to shorter strokes and all is well.

I believe that is called "ADAPTABILITY".

It is very useful and is frequently employed both consciously and unconsciously when shaving.

Thanks to all,

I use my GEM MMOC already few days as my daily driver, without any problems  Rolleyes
Skin stretching and short strokes on my chin, combined with light touch and shallow angle helps a lot  Cool

It's good to hear that you're getting your Gem MMOC figured out and achieving more comfortable shaves, Z-2 ! This is definitely a seriously efficient razor.

If you need to buff, the Gem ClogPruf version is a perfect choice for a daily driver. I use a Gem CP just about every single day and always buff several areas on my face and neck. I can get a closer shave on those problem areas with the Gem than I can with my straight razors. You just have to make sure to maintain the proper angle and don't use any pressure. The MMOC would be more challenging -- more like a straight razor.

You can blade-buff with any razor, including the MMOC, including a straight or shavette, without irritation. It comes down to technique -- and knowing your razor and your face really well. This takes practice, often many months (dare I say years?) of practice. So if you're really intent on making the MMOC your daily driver, give yourself lots of time and go slowly. Be patient. And allow yourself breather periods where you use a less demanding razor. Remember, it's not the destination, it's the journey.  Big Grin

Yes, personally I use my Slim Adjustable between MMOC shaves. But I see big improvement from beginning Smile
