Today experiment Focus2Sb code: two blades with one shim below.

I was surprised at the low effectiveness of this configuration on the R51.
But today I was in a hurry and I could not evaluate better.
Tomorrow I hope to have clearer ideas.

Today, FocusS code experiment: a new blade, with two shims underneath.

I think I have found the right configuration.
Effectiveness almost comparable to the Focus3, but with all the comfort I'm used to.
The old school always wins !!! ???

Today the shaving battle begins.
The challenger, the Focus Tritok R51 Flat, armed with two thicknesses. (Shim)
The champion, the Frankenrazor PP1489, with the same blade but natural.
As always, my favorite blades, the Personna Platinum Chrome, new for the occasion.

To be the first clash, both have done very well.
I would say a full tie, very balanced and pleasant draw.

In these days the challenge has continued.

Both razors are definitely efficient.
In three passes, but also in one (today, One Pass Shave http://ilrasoio.com/viewtopic.php?t=7786), the result is perfect.
But they reach the goal along two very different roads.

The Frankenrazor PP1489 is a more effective, but above all it is much more intuitive.
The Focus Tritok R51 Flat, in HackS2 mode with two shims, is much more delicate but more technical.
Even for a matter of experience, the champion achieves excellent results with ease.
The challenger, albeit with greater engagement, still fully achieves the goal.
So from the point of view of pure performance I consider an ex aequo, giving the second the benefit of the doubt.

Let's move on to more material considerations.
The build quality of the two is also decidedly different.
The first is a commercial product, with a moderate cost.
The second is a high quality engineering project.
In both materials and specifications, the latter wins hands down.
This, however, has its price, which I still consider correct for the Focus.
But having to use the quality / price ratio on the result (not on the object !!), the PP1489 still wins.
But only for a technicality, in fact otherwise I would have considered selling the Focus.
Instead, it will show off in the future.

Latest considerations of an absolutely accessory nature, beauty and photogenicity.
Being also passionate about SOTD, for me it is a parameter that enters (as last) in the comparison.
Personally, I think both are beautiful and photogenic.
But even in this they are diametrically opposed.
The PP1489 is a classic beauty, perfect in a B&W photo.
The Focus is young and gaudy, and its colorful livery attracts strongly.

I conclude with a practical consideration.
The first I recommend it to anyone, perhaps for ease in the Standard Plus version (a little more effective).
This is already available on the Maggard Razors website by combining the MR14 handle with the V3 head (also available in Gray, absolutely in tone).
https://www.maggardrazors.com/product/ma...ety-razor/
From the young person who has never taken a razor in hand, to the expert user, this is a tool of absolute performance as a daily shaver.
The second is not recommended for anyone who:
• have no patience
• do not like lightness
• do not want to use shims
For everyone else it is an absolutely valid experience.
And I'm very happy about it. Wink

which of the three is the most efficient? And, what would it be comparable to?

I agree with ishiapp that the Focus 51 is a beautiful piece of engineering, but I could never buy one. Just like I would never buy a jersey with, say, Chevrolet or Aon, as the dominant feature. A simple logo on the underside of the baseplate would have done. This is by far the worst and tackiest use of logo placement I can recall ever seeing on a razor.

+1

I'd like it too, maybe machined.
But, as said above, this way It's the usual Cumbo marketing.

Finally all three razor options are on sale on the official website.
Waiting anxiously for reviews on the R52/R53.

I am not really sure what your post is meant for but I only shared that site for the fact that I was under the impression that the razor is only available in North America through this vendor. I have bought from him and conversed with him throughout the years. Regardless, there is no offense taken from your comments but to keep the thread on track, I hope we can refocus the topic back on the razor. I will be contributing to this thread as I get some shaves in during June.

Anyone have any ideas for blades?
The comments were in response to posts that have since been deleted, not yours, so I can see that they seem totally off. Since those are now gone, and they took the thread a bit off-topic, I have deleted mine, too.
