Busy day at the house. Home Depot delivered my new microwave at 1pm. Already had the old one out. And the outlet moved in preparation for the new one. Pretty straightforward installation. Gonna take some getting used to. The old one was here when I bought the house in ‘94. It was a GE space saver from 1987. Lately it’s been acting up. Thus the swap out. New Whirlpool is well reviewed. Thinner and has a turntable. If it last me 37 years I’ll be a happy and 92 years old.

That Space Saver is still new looking! My folks had one pretty much like that. When I first saw it, I thought it was at Dad's! Then I remembered they changed to some white thing that acts like it needs replacing.

Our MW was new in 2008 and blew up a year ago or so. Literally looked like Star Wars space battle inside and making loud bangs. Maybe something was trying to cross over to our dimension. In any case, it last a dozen years, give or take. Not like the old Kenmore stuff. Have you seen that meme about the fridge from the 70s? 'I am time itself and will outlive you and your children!"

Yes the days of companies designing things to last are in our rear view mirror. Things are designed to last for a “acceptable “ amount of time. 
People are happy when they get 100-150k out of a car. Big rigs are expected to go well over a million just to be considered decent.  Consumer goods could be made to last much longer. They may cost more.  But usually price per year/mile/hour of service. Will be less than having to buy two cheaper items vs one more expensive. Plus cost of replacing and down time. Our expectations of how long something should last is very different from the younguns these days. 
When talking to them. You realize that you sound like your dad/grandad. That usually makes me chuckle. 
Some of the tools I used today I got from my grandfather. Had a running conversation with him while working. His first question would have probably been about if I tried to figure what was wrong with the old one. Which I am pretty sure it was one of the capacitors. But the wife insisted on a new one. I relented and ordered  the new one. 
Gus Living through the depression on the farm.  Then WW2 made him a tough self reliant frugal man. I attempt to emulate him and my dad. Which really annoys the wife. She doesn’t understand that it’s drilled into me to approach life that way. 
I am able to see her side. And compromise thus  the new stove last year. And now microwave.
My grandmother would probably like the new one. And I know the side look my grandfather would have given  her. Miss them both.

Nano Razor with a Feather Pro Super blade

Been using the Nano since I ended my test run with the Oliworks adjustable. 
The one dot plate and Pro Super do a decent job. Trouble free shaves. But the Feather blades start tugging after five shaves. The Schick blades seem sharper to me. And last longer. The one drawback to the AC razors is the finite amount of blade options available. DE’s trump them in this regard. 

With that in mind. There is a new DE adjustable razor on it’s way to me. According to the USPS
It will be here on Thursday. It is a major splurge for me. It will constitute my  birthday and Christmas presents. Paid  in full by my parents. 
Don’t really need it. But as I rarely spoil myself. That let me successfully rationalize it. 
Stay tuned folks, for the unveiling. 
Have off for Veterans/Armistice Day. Hope everyone memorializes and enjoys it in their own way.

Congratulations on the new inbound razor and looking forward to your thoughts on it

Well for the near future. I will have to abstain from any negative comments about the USPS. My package arrived today. Two days earlier than the original delivery date. It was shipped on Friday afternoon. And was in my mailbox in 4 days California to Maryland. Not bad. 
So what was in the box? 



I splurged on myself. And grabbed a Blackland Osprey while it was %25 discounted. Since it is a fully machined razor. I went with my Jojo industries machined brass two band Badger brush. Rounding out the luxury shave Franks wonderful Dragonsbeard soap and Alt Innsbruck aftershave. 
A new Shark Super Chrome blade and the Osprey set on 4.5, right in the middle of its adjustment range. 
One shave does not a review make. (Read in Yoda’s voice)  First time was still a charm. After some more shaves I will share thoughts for the few here that may be interested in them.
