It's true. If you have not heard the concerning news, the original, classic 1959 formula has just been changed!

Tabac is now tallow-free and scent is also "different". Numerous users (on that other forum) who have tried both stated this is an entirely different product now.

I know of only one place on the net that still has a small supply of the old Tallow version...

Yea I had read about the change. Bought two extra pucks actually from my buddy Jeff Bezos. They were still the tallow refills. Only got two in case they were the new turds.
The “reformulating” of the tried and true classic products is frustrating. So I have 4 in my drawer. And the one I am currently using. Which I am content with. Still may get a couple more this next payday. All in all I would still say that this is a “First world problem “.
Plenty of small maker great tallow soaps to choose from. Still I would like the chance to address the suits at Maurer and Wirtz. To let them know my disappointment with their decision. It is what I would call a “New Coke” moment.

Productive afternoon.
Finally got round to honing up my buddy Tim’s MilkCrate Clauss Razor. While I was at it touched up my Top Flight Razor.
Gonna test out the Clauss and see if it’s up to standard to send back home.

I’ve never attempted any “work” on horn scales. Have read up on it. Neetsfoot oil seems to be the product of choice for getting them rehydrated. Bout as much as I know.

Yep, I've read that too. Forgot I had this one in a lot purchase and meant to send to you with the others. I'll get it your way to do as you like. Looks promising to my untrained eyes.

Thursday's Shave
[Image: UruVQk2.jpg]

Clauss Razor
Scheermonnik Soap
Fluffy Industries Brass Badger
ManDom Aftershave

Test shave report, Clauss razor.  A little background. This is Tim's MilkCrate razor. It appeared to have had the factory bevel. Which was in fact not capable of cutting hair even at skin level. On the plus side. As with any quality American made straight. The steel has a nice ring to it. The grind is top notch and it lays flat on the hone. It's centered in it's scales and is appropriately snug through it's range of motion.
I spent plenty of time through each stage of the honing process until it passed my usual visual inspection. And HHT tests. But as we all know the real test is actually putting it to use.
Now a vain person may be tempted to always report only positive results. Alas I can not in good conscious say that this razor is GTG. I did use it to complete my first pass. But used my Korrat 14 2.0 for my second pass. The shave with the Clauss was ok. But a little tuggy. With the heel being not set. It will not leave my possession until these shortcomings are remedied.
To do so would bring shame on Clan Fluffy. And possibly cause the spirits of the Shogun masters to shun me. I will revisit my slab of novaculite with the Clauss.
And report back the results.
Hope all of you are ready for Friday.
Fluffy
