Took a very nice edge. And under magnification. Looks good. Compared to the other example which has some issues with what looks like carbon inclusions. Not terrible. But will have to see if I can hone past them and get to a good edge.

I need to correct my previous post. Upon closer inspection and cleaning what looked to be carbon inclusions must’ve been very small particles of the electrical tape I used to tape the spine when honing. So there was no issue with the integrity of the blade/steel. 
Nice shave this time around with the 1996. 
$11 it is still a good deal.
