Decent day today. Two jobs completed without much fanfare. Only a few taxpayers inconvenienced.  I wasn’t on my “A-game”
Did manage to get one very nosy homeowner to leave me alone. And go ask the crew chief all of her questions. He was very appreciative of the chance to show off all of his knowledge of road construction and maintenance.  ?
Getting ready for the rain tomorrow.
Trying to decide on what equipment to use for this evenings shave. It’ll come to me.
Hope you guys had a good hump day.

I work for my county’s highway department.
So heavy rains can cause high water problems. Trees down. That kind of stuff. So depending on what happens we have to deal with it to get the roads open and safe.

Luckily I am not in an office environment. Not sure how long I could remain employed in one of those. At my work it is a daily event to be insulted , belittled or accused of being the result of some act of unnatural mating act. New people and outsiders are put to the test. Some stay. Some don’t. Most of the openings for supervisory positions are in my shop. Respect is earned or it isn’t. I realize that “our” type of behavior is not possible/reasonable. In many workplaces. But it does have the benefit of keeping the pretenders and woke people from turning it into a place where you can’t speak plainly. And be an individual. Leave your feelings at the gate is our motto.
Make a mistake and prepare to be ridiculed.
No matter what your position. Chief of highways (highest) Down to new hires.
I suspect that some of you guys have similar types of environments. Maybe not as crude. Or maybe you would hate it. What kind of places do you guys work in?

I work in an office environment and have to play nice. A job that would allow me to be plain spoken would be nice.

I paint cars for a living in a bodyshop.   We call each other every name in the book and if you get upset you wont make it. Very much old school men.

Ive seen young guys come in and it takes them by surprise because they are used to more politically correct environments. They either change or dont make it.

Lol no there arent. Maybe its the paint fumes but you better expect to be harassed.  And nobody runs to the boss either.

We will spray thinner on peoples feet while they are welding so they catch on fire.  The thinner burns off so they arent in any danger but man is it hilarious to watch grown men run while their shoes are on fire.

Petroleum, sort of bluish-white collar.  My office is wherever they (the smart ppl) tell I’m going.  I mostly troubleshoot environmental issues (we like to spill things) but again, I do what the smart people tell me to do

We like drilling holes (especially under water), exploratory tapping, and freedom rich shale. We don’t like carcinogenic noise windmills...

Here’s a joke...
Heard a huge oil company is planning on using insect urine as a source for an alternative fuel...
“I think its BP”

Cheers
