First time posting here. Just wanted to intro myself and tell you a wee bit about my love for wet shaving. I am 2nd generation Ukrainian Canadian as both sets of grandparents emigrated to Canada back in the early 1900s.
Many years ago I shaved with a variety of razors from a Black Beauty to electrics and CARTS. I started with a brush and Old Spice hard soap in a mug. From there I went to canned shave cream/gel which I stayed with for quite a while. One day after I'd bought a new can of goop, I removed the cap and in doing so snapped the finger push valve thingy right off. Couldn't do anything with it so cursed my clumsiness and bought another...Same thing happened dammit. So I dug an old brush and my mug out and proceeded to shave. I was still using carts but that was about to change.
I met my wife about 15 years ago in Calgary AB. We moved to Regina and there I began to delve a bit deeper into shaving. I discovered B&B in 2010. There I found out about all the things that make shaving enjoyable, from different razors to brush mfg to the incredible amount of shaving scents, soaps etc that were available. I dove very deep. Started making shavers (carts) with different handles from motorcycle brake/clutch handles to starting to use a small lathe for woods, resins and acrylics. Now I was having fun. Then it was onto collecting and trying different DEs, SEs, vintage and modern razors. Became an eBay and BST junkie. Got up to 250 razors in the collection. I was also spinning and making brushes as well. At this point I stepped back and decided to go with more modern than vintage and started to sell my collection. Got down to around 36 razors and stayed there for a while. Still looked for interesting and well designed shavers. Sold off a few and got down to 30, then down to 24 and then to 12. The reason for the even reduction was I use test tube racks to hold/display my razors. I had 12 and 6 place racks. From there I went down to the "Great 8". Smart-Helix Apollo, Lambda Athena, Chiseled Face brass Legacy, GreenCult 2.0, Razorine FlatBoy, Blackland Dart re-issue, Blutt BR-1 (1.20) and the OverLander. I get superb shaves from all of them. I'm also now using boar and synthetic brushes exclusively. I'm not spinning anything right now as we moved and I basically lost my workshop area. It's taken me about 8-10 years to get to where I am now.
Looking forward to being here,  joining in on the various discussions and contributing as well.
Cheers

Welcome to the forum, and many thanks, both for sharing your very interesting journey, and for sharing your very interesting den porn.  (To be clear, I am not referring solely to the Marilyn Monroe trays, although they are pleasant and distinctive.)
