My experience with the few Fine soaps I've tried are limited.

But, I have to agree with some here, they are not as slick, nor is the lather as rich and thick (cushioning).

I found bits of dried bubbles launched into the air around my face when lathering on subsequent passes (drying out).

And, of course, for me at least, scent strength is often weak with soaps, and Fine wasn't stellar there either.

The one Fine soap I want to try, but haven't yet, is their L'Orange Noir.

Their AS's, IMO, are killer, and the LON is a regularly-used favorite.

In my experience, for those likening Fine to Tabac...no comparison for me.

Tabac is in a different class, and performs better. It has those characteristics I want and expect, plus the scent (once one gets used to it) that's strong, and lasts throughout the shave.

Really dig that.

Haslinger (lanolin) is less expensive than either, and yet, manages to put on an Oscar-winning performance every time, even if the scent is weak.

Cheap can be exceptional...

I used the Fine platinum soap today for the first time in a while, had a great shave with it. It takes water really well, I made an effort to get more water into it today than I probably normally would and was very impressed. Great residual slickness and nice post-shave feel.
