I've enjoyed their aftershaves, so I thought I would try their soap too. I got the American Blend.

Anyone try the Fine soaps? What am I looking forward to?

I have 2 pucks. I have Snakebite and AB, but haven't used either...yet. The AB ASL is heavy on the parfume so I am leery of using the soap. But I am hoping the Snakebite is every bit as strong as the ASL.

Honestly, I think they are "Fine." I'm not super thrilled with the soaps, I have the L Orange Noir and the American Blend. I will say this, although the manufacturer was touting Tabac qualities, these soaps are NOT Tabacish. I do not find the lather to be as slick or as thick. These soaps are perfectly serviceable and for their single puck price, not too shabby but along with their new packaging a bit too much money for what you get. I hope you have some great shaves with yours, but mine aren't getting alot of use.

That's disappointing to hear. The more I look, the more I see people saying the same thing. At $17.00 it's not the end of the world, but if it isn't all that, it'll be disappointing. Especially because of my love of their aftershaves.

If it doesn't work, maybe I'll mix it with a puck of Haslinger into it to give it some help... Assuming I like the scent. Or maybe I'll just stick with their aftershaves and forgo the soap lol. We'll see. I'll report back.

Thanks for the feedback gents.

Another thing I find, and it could just be my weird nose, is the scent is strong off the puck of these, but it fades dramatically once you lather. At least it does for me, so that too is disappointing because I LOVE the American Blend scent and like you, appreciate the Fine aftershaves quite a bit. Anyhoo, they are what they are, a basic puck of soap that gives a solid shave. Everyone is different though you might love them and as I said earlier, I wish you the best.

I agree with the above comments. They are alright. Fantastic scents but average performance. I find I have to load for a really long time to get the type of lather I want from it. I don't find it similar to Tabac as the manufacturer claims.

The first 4 times I used this soap I wasn't impressed. I left it for a few months and then gave it another shot. The second time around I was able to get it working very well. I loaded heavy, then whipped it in my scuttle. I then continue to swirl on my face and add water as I'm swirling. This is the same approach that I use for MWF. The Fine soap will work really well, it just takes a little longer to get it perfect. I would encourage you to give it another try, but load more soap, get it whipped up about 90% and then add water slowly.

I have had the American Blend for over a year and it is one of my top soaps.  I have 91 soaps and creams and may purchase more Fine.

When I load mine, I load the absolute living piss out of it. Its a fine lather, its just nothing to write home about. It will shave. I think the problem I still have with it to this day is the Fine folks talked about how much it was going to be like Tabac's lather and its just not. On top of it, it doesn't take that kind of a load of Tabac for me to get a very slick creamy lather. I'm glad you guys are enjoying it though. Perhaps the OP will as well.

UPDATE: I got my puck in today!! Woot.

As soon as I read, "Made in Holland," and read the ingredients, I knew I was going to be getting a "Glycerin(e)" lather. This is to me, like the total opposite of a Wholly Kaw lather. A glycerin lather in my world is usually a pretty runny affair - the question was, would it be slick though? That's always the saving grace for a puck like this - viscosity.

Well I was rather (pleasantly) shocked when I did a practice run to see that it wasn't nearly as "runny" as i thought it would be. As a matter a fact, it was rather "cake(ish)." Nice! I'd already shaven so a trial shave was out, but I put some of the lather on my face... pretty darn slick! Woot!

For me, a good lather will stay on the face and not dry out for 5 minutes. I left it on the face to see where it would land. By four minutes, it had dried. I don't think that was the creams fault though. I haven't quite got the lather on it down yet. I could have added considerably more water had I lathered more. I really didn't work all that hard to get what I had. That was a little surprising too. I'd imagine that had I worked it hard, I'd be even more impressed. Either way, when I added a little water to my face and the dried cream, I got great slide again.

I can't speak to the scent dying after lathering. I was a little scented out - I'll pay attention next time.

Overall, so far, I'm ok with the stuff. I'm pretty excited to try it even. Perhaps Sunday.
