Feather Blades

Maybe the sharpest blade around ,yes indeed .
But also the fastest in dulling ,too . 1st shave is rather rough , 2nd being the best , while in the 3rd one the blade starts to tug and pull . The 4th shave can be considered as torturing.

For me, the Feather blades seem to be at their best around the third shave. I can easily use one for 6–10 shaves, though. Definitely one of my favorite blades, and almost a “must-have” for certain razors.

I love the blades....I just hate, hate, hate the glue. It's totally unecessary and adds time to cleanup. I sought out and found a pretty good alternative.

I agree, the glue, wax, or whatever, is a real drag (literally). What is your alternative, if I may? Mine is the one commonly compared with Feather — that is, Kai.

Personna Lab Blue...they are much smoother on the first shave than a Feather and seem to get sharper after initial use. And not a bit of crap on the blade itself.

Aah, ok. Thanks for  catching  us up on that one.

I don't find the glue spots on the Feather blades to be much of an issue.  The biggest hassle is opening the wrapper but then I just stick it into the Rockwell 6s and go.  I disassemble and rinse the razor and the blade in hot water after every shave and I believe that the waxy glue dissolves and rinses away because I don't notice any glue after installing the blade for the first shave nor is there any build up on the razor.  While I just rinse the blade under very hot water and flick it dry then lay it on a tissue, I rinse and wipe the razor parts with a Italian Barber barber towel (just a small cotton towel) and then lay them out on a separate tissue.  Its dry where I live so everything dries pretty quickly and I find this keeps all build up of whatever nature off the razor and the blades.

I started using the disassemble and rinse after every shave technique a few years ago after one of the members ( kwsher) held a poll asking who among the members used this technique.  I didn't at the time and those who did were in the minority as I recall but I figured I'd try it and got hooked.  Its a pretty quick process and not a hassle at all.

I used a Feather yesterday after a few weeks of using other blades and all I can say is, yesss...   It just removes material so efficiently with an economy of passes resulting in less irritation and an all around excellent shave.

I always, always disassemble and pat dry my razors. They stay disassembled until I use it again.

On my brushed Ti razors, the glue isn't really an issue. On a mirror polish the glue just smudges, makes a mess, and messes with my head. It only goes away with a thorough cleaning.

I got 100 Rapira Platinum Lux recently, and I discovered that while some have 4 very small wax dots, some don't. Strange...

I also clean my razors with hot soapy water after each use, so wax/glue buildup isn't really an issue.

A little bit of Goo Gone on cotton swab removes the wax in seconds. Use the dry side of the cotton swab to remove the excess Goo Gone from the blade and you are good to go!

I see tons of people complain about the glue. I never have a problem with it being near the blade’s edge and since I scrub my razors after every blade, I haven’t had or seen any issues with my stainless razors. Feathers are also the first blade I actually bought 100 of.
