Currently using Myrsol Antesol as a pre shave, and it's great. Especially if you don't want to get any oil on your brushes. Some pre shave oils I have used had a noticeable effect on my brushes after a while.
I will probably go back to SMN after I finish my bottle of Myrsol.
For a while, I was using Myrsol Emulsion, but I noticed some orange tint developing on the tips of my previously white tipped brushes, and I suspect this was related to the lanolin in the Myrsol Emulsion.

Your experience with Emulsion is interesting. Myrsol Emulsion, as a pre-shave, is the only shaving product I use every day, except for my scuttle, and I haven't noticed any discoloration of my brushes. I'll have to check them out.
I love Emulsion as a pre-shave. A little dab 'll do ya, so my bottle will last over a year. I tried a bunch of others, but they didn't add much. Crown, Proraso, Skin Food, TOBS. My shaves on the road, without Emulsion, are noticeably lacking. Of course, I'm also without my scuttle, which may be the real reason...
