Fantasy Self

My wife really likes to walk or drive around and look at houses - not because we're going to buy one, but just because she likes to imagine us living in them, and what she would do to improve them or make them her own. We call these our fantasy selves, who are not limited by finances or health or anything else, and can do with houses whatever they want. So it was a pretty nice day today, and we were driving around looking at houses on streets we hadn't traveled before, and at one point our conversation went like this:
- We could live in that one and have a coach house built over the garage in back for our full-time gardener.
- Yes, and he would be not just a gardener, but also a handyman who would do all the maintenance and repairs.
- And his wife would be our chef, shopping for food and preparing all of our gourmet meals.
- And she would also be the housekeeper and would do all the cleaning and laundry.
- I think they're from Central or South America.
- Yes, Guatemala or Mexico, and they would call you Mr. John, with a nice accent.
- And not only would he be the gardener and handyman, but he also would be a trained barber and would give me a hot-towel shave every morning...
