Experimenting With One Pass and Call It Good

Last March I ended up volunteering and being elected to the board of directors of my condo community. So my free and easy retirement has been transformed into my going to the community office every week day morning at around 9:30 AM.

Some mornings I'm running late, and I don't mind going in with a day's growth, but anything past that and I am personally compelled to shave before I go. So I had been fooling around with my Mongoose 2nd gen SE, and my 1st Gen ATT SE circa 2016. 

With the Feather Pro blades these are both fantastic razors, and for me there isn't a razor that will shave me closer in two passes than either of those. I had not shaved with either in years, but a WTB a member put up on DFS ... for a 2nd gen Mongoose , led me to pick them both up and refresh my memory. 

So I was running late, grabbed the Mongoose and a blade I'd used a few times and did a WTG and called it good .... and it was good ! So I did the same with the ATT SE and got the same results. Not saying it couldn't have been smooth as glass .... or maximum BBS if I'd have added my usual ATG pass, but it was plenty good as it was. 

So this morning, hadn't shaved since Friday, I grabbed my Ti Blackbird DE and threw a brand spanky new Feather DE in it. Did a 1 pass WTG and again, it was a DFS .... not BBS, but good enough for me by a long ways.

Interesting proposition.  I haven’t gone to one-pass shaves but I do seldom deploy a three-pass anymore either.  With grain/against grain and done.  I’ll watch this thread!

No way with my beard. 3 pass usually, 2 occasionally when in a rush.

Same for me. 3 passes for DFS. 4 for BBS.

Lol, my first pass with a .54 dc is with the open comb and my second pass is with the SB side which is pretty much a 1.5 pass as I detail right away on that second pass

I can pass ANY cotton ball test you gents throw out!
