If I can find some OCMMs on ebay would you want to bring them into the UK Marcus? I'm not in the market myself, but I can keep and eye open if you want.

You know what it would cost more than I would.

I would offer to loan you mine, but at the cost of an OCMM it's just not worth doing. It's less expensive to buy one and ship it to you and you keep it. That option is open. Maybe try the FW first.

Marcus I thought you asked about flexing with the 1912, but I didn't see it in going back in the thread.

I shaved with the 1912 SEvette tonight.

It's about like a lather catcher in feel. But of course the LC gets that from the curved head (or I think that's what does it) and the 1912 gets it from the blade.

Look out for one of those "bundle of razors" deals ... couple of MMOCs, a 1912, a Gillette and so on ...

Thanks to Mike (mpf9ret) I now have a Sevette Junior - superb![Image: 20150806_080857.jpg]

The sevette really seems to like the stainless blades (which have been problematic for me in the past) and, although it feels harsher during the shave than the traditional SEs the closeness and comfort of the end result is, I believe, unbeatable.
This really could be the greatest shave on earth!

And didn't Bob Dylan foresee all this when he wrote "Your hearts must have the courage for the changing of the guard" Smile

Sevette Junior with Feather Stainless for an absolutely superb shave:[Image: 20150917_233008.jpg]
This shave has convinced me of the excellence of the sevette and its advantages over the devette (stiffer blade) and ivette (much easier to find the angles).

A very comfortable, infinitely aggressive, incredibly long lasting and exceptionally smart shave.

This really is the disposable blade Rolls and it's absolutely brilliant.

Try it!

The feather fits into a gem? Does it only work with a sevette?

I found it interesting too, but only after you asked your question. So I compared the Feather SE blade to a GEM spine backed blade. The difference in width is minimal, maybe 1/32", certainly less than 1/16".

So why would it work in a SEvette? The comb is gone on the razor. It's the geometry of the blade width, comb, and blade stops that produce the safety razor effect. With comb being totally gone the width of the blade is meaningless. Of course the corners where the blade stops are found remain to protect the user from producing 2 gashes from the corner of the blade with each stroke.

To illustrate this another way, my OCMM SEvette is totally missing one blade stop. That could be a problem if the razor still had a comb. But since the blade/comb relationship no longer exists with that razor turned into a SEvette it works fine without the blade stop. The razor is there only to be a holder for the mostly unguarded blade. The portion of the comb where the blade stops should be remain to protect from the corners of the blade from gashing me.

I haven't tried it, but that slight difference in width between the SE Feather blade and a GEM would result in a slightly different relationship with an intact razor as the comb would in essence be further forward. That is if it would work at all. Some designs require the blade to be engaged by a hook sort of blade stop in order to work at all. The Valets are one such design. If the blade isn't clamped down by a cap I would be very hesitant to swap a GEM for a Feather.

Oh Gentlemen! Simply pop the spine from a used GEM onto the top of your Feathers and NOS Valets and they will fit all pre-Micromatics Smile

Actually you can see the GEM spine on the Feather in that photo I posted of the sevette Junior...
