I did a share buy with Shannon at Elysian Soaps so I took 100 lids. So I’m sure you’ll see these on her upcoming releases.

Just like to get some feedback.

I think the gold lid made the artwork seem calm and relaxing. Now I want to see your bulldog artwork with this lid.

That’s the one that I’m thinking about I have to get my graphic designer to send me the label image without the silver lid on it and I can show how it will look.

Not only AS, but also EDT and balm (see HERE and HERE).

I have often thought about writing a thread to shed some light on all the misconceptions surrounding this brand, but have not had the time, hopefully in the near future.

Ok, I had that aftershave and while my memory may not be serving me accurately, I don’t recall it smelling like the soap. I shaved today with the I Coloniali shaving cream and it does smell like the soap if a bit lighter. Excellent shave I might add.

I went down this rabbit hole years ago adder talking with Frank in 2021. The scent luggage is entirely different than the soap. May have the same name but the published notes are different. Frank will smell it and the soap is the clear and salient choice to build the homage upon.

I'm 100% with AlphaFrank75 on this one. The Gold makes it more noble and exquisite but also supports the matching label in its effect. Great idea!

While there are certainly some nuance differences between soap and AS (mostly due to the ingredients of the soap, we have already talked with Frank about this), it's completely out of doubt that the scent of I Coloniali hard soap (the OG terracotta bowl from Il Rituale del sé line) is the Macerato Aromatico per Uomo al Legno Guajaco actually.

A perfect shave with a perfect soap. After I told a friend that I was able to get hold of a jar of Beauté Sauvage, he gave me a sample to shorten the waiting time and to enjoy this beautiful shaving soap already now.

Many thanks to Frank @“Dragonsbeard” for this jewel in the world of shaving soaps!

Is that an existing EDP ?  I think this is a great project and will certainly (try to) buy the product when Frank has it ready.  Its such a nice scent but so difficult to describe beyond...nice! Smile

Marko exactly! It is a very well blend scent where no one scent jumps out a introduces itself but the blend just smells good. It takes some deep diving into it to be able to start to separate the individual notes. This would be a scent that if we were a big company we’d send it off to a professional fragrance company and put on a GCMS machine to try and get this scent identified and all the aroma molecules and their percentages. Essentially duplicating the scent. When doing product development for big companies I’ve used these types of companies before many times. In many cases the companies will do some submissions for free up to a point and then it goes on the clock. Even then it’s not extremely expensive but you’ll not get that formula as it’s held by them as they want to sell you the aroma for as long as you sell it. An one of the issues with these companies is the bigger better fragrance companies are the bigger the minimum order is. Some of the smaller ones will start at either 25lbs or 40 lbs but the bigger ones can start at 100 up to 400 lbs. which would eliminate pretty much any Artisan soap maker. I mean even 40 lbs would probably make at least 40 to 60 batches of shave soap and splash which doesn’t make financial sense since it might take an artisan many, many years to sell that many batches of the same scent and by that time the scent make far exceed its expiration date and get real funky smelling! An that’s just one scent so imagine if you offered 10 or 20 different scents. So that’s why folks like myself have to rely on our noses and experience to try and create a scent or even much more difficult to duplicate an existing scent. Yes there are companies that sell fragrance oils for candle and soap making that are copies of existing well known scents that we are all familiar with. For example if you want a Aqua Di Gio, or a Bath and Body Shop scent or Creeds Green Irish Tweed there are probably at least 6 different companies I can think of that sell those dupes so very easy to find but in this case of the I Coloniali theirs no dupes or a list of exact fragrance notes profile provided by the original manufacturering company so that makes it much more difficult to recreate. So if you have a good nose and are familiar with Aromatic ingredients be they synthetic or natural it helps to not only create new scents but when trying to do a dupe an existing one. Another personal example. Its been on my list to do a 100% natural version of Tom Fords classic Tobacco Vanille as I really like it and how did I come up with that? Well when looking at the fragrance note profile the manufacturer provides every note could be an essential oil or an absolute even though the entire perfume is 100% synthetic if you look at the actual ingredient list. Will it smell exactly like The TV ? Nope but by taking all the natural aromatics and putting together a nice blend a really great scent can be created that has its own identity but may be somewhat similar to the original parfum. Just wanted to share with you some of my thoughts based on about 30 years of experience in the industry. So another late night rant! Lol
