Vanilla Infusion, Vanilla Absolute and Vanilla CO2 extract are the 3 good ones and all expensive. That’s a very interesting topic. Aside from actual quality or geographical origins, how would you describe the different nuances between the three?
Also, another question: IIRC, you used some real oud - can't remember exactly what - in your very first Dragonsbeard blend (the one with Oleo soap base). Has that changed since then?
Grazie Frank!
Hello Sir
Ok so to answer your first question. Doing both Madagascar Vanilla Bean infusions takes months and there’s a process to that. The end result is a beautiful med level balanced Vanilla aroma. The Vanilla beans are relatively expensive but it’s the amount of time management it takes that increases the price on that one but in the end it actually keeps the price considerably lower than it would be if I only used Vanilla Absolute and CO2 Extract. Vanilla Absolute has a bit of a nutty vanilla note to it and the CO2 extract is a little sweeter than the absolute with a bit of a woody/balsamic note to it. When all three are blended together what we get is very interesting as it varies in each individual product. Besides the dominant Vanilla note we find in some products there’s a beautiful Carmel note that comes out and recently one of the infusions seems to have transformed into an almost butterscotch note that is also beautiful. I’ll be clear on one thing.. Vanilla is not a strong scent but rather a smooth relaxing luxurious aroma in my opinion. Also one of the great things about it is it will mix with a whole lot of other Aromas. So I highly recommend people using their imagination and mixology skills as their are endless possibilities with Vanilla
Hope that answers your question.
All the best
Frank

Sorry about that I was writing that post and I had a situation at work I had to address so I cut it short.
The Aroma blend is the same except in the first one which Oleo made the soap and I did the aroma blend I used a synthetic Amber but I wanted the Aroma Blend to be 100% natural so the first time I made the soap which was version 2 the blend got a natural Amber EO and from that point on it’s always been the same and yes there is real Oud/agarwood oil in the blend.
Here’s the list of natural aromatics that in the blend. There’s a story behind the Oud that I posted in here somewhere that’s interesting. The simple version is I got the Agarwood Oil and the Oud Resin for free and decided not to charge for it the Dragonsbeard soap and other products with the scent would be much more expensive. More than the Vanilla Safi as the Cambodian Oud and Oud Resin are way more expensive than any of the other aroma ingredients in the blend and as you see there’s some like the East Indian Sandalwood, Madagascar Vanilla and the Rose Damask Absolute that are not inexpensive by themselves and they determine the price of the products not the 2 Oud ingredients. I got them for free and i made a decision at the time to not charge for them. I was very lucky to get them.
Hope that answers the question.
