Ok it's 10 am and as promised I've got a winner to the contest for the Eclipse set. I had it down to 3 then after going back and forth I was down to 2 and after much thought I wasn't sure so I called my son in NYC this morning as he's been home with a case of Covid and I wanted to check up on him. So we started talking and I mentioned I had to pick a name and I was down to 2 and he mentioned a few things that made sense and so that was it. I made my choice. An let me be 100% clear this choice has no bias or about any friendships as almost everyone who submitted some picks I consider friends/customers. This was one of the more difficult decisions as far as picking a name for the Aroma Blend. Just wanted to get that out of the way.  

So the winner is Dave in KY for his pick of " Dark ROC " and the reason I ended up with that has my final pick is based on Rochester which does have that nickname ROC and even our airport goes by those letters. I Like that's it's saying Rochester is going to go dark and that goes along with what this one time release as we won't see another full Eclipse in the US until 2044 and when that happens Rochester won't be a great place to see if from and I know I won't be around to see it as I'll be somewhere else! LOL 

I'll be posting updates as I have more info on the release which will be targeted for the mid March which is 3 weeks from the Eclipse. I've got my packaging lined up and I think you'll like what the set looks like. It will contain a 6 oz jar of the F Base Shave Soap, a Skin Food Splash in a 3.4 oz Bottle and a 4 oz Round Bath Bar Soap in a black metal container and a pair of glasses to view the Eclipse safely. All this will come in a Black Box with a special Sticker on it. I'll post up the price once I get everything figured out as I'm not sure if this is a release that should only be sold on the ETHOS website exclusively because if it goes to my vendors it will affect the final price as their are margins to figure in. I'll have to give this some serious thought and if anyone has any thoughts on that please feel free to message me.

Wow! Talk about a coincidence just yesterday I was thinking to myself I haven’t seen anybody post that they have finished any tub of any scent since a customer of mine posted a photo over on the other big forum that he had finished a jar of Lavender Supreme. He said he literally used it every day as his only soap. That jar was from the very first batch I made and Lavender and Succes where the first 2 Shave Soaps I made myself way back when I first started ETHOS. So that took him a long time to finish the jar. You just did it in a lot less time!

primotenore your jar of Bay Rum must be from the first release right? And that was last year! What’s also a coincidence is I was actually going to post the question asking has anybody actually finished a jar of any ETHOS Shave soap as I have not seen nor heard anyone mention they have. So I was curious. Well you just answered that one.

Getting close on my Greenfresh but from the 1st batch and much softer than my preference and I just need to reach for it more.....maybe I should 3017 it, just not sure I have it in me 

The only thing I can 3017 is a blade for 2 shaves.   I enjoy variety.   I did fly through my first tub of Ravello over the summer in record time.

Hi Frank,
This jar was indeed from the first batch. I babied it for a while, then decided to 3017 it. (I started a 3017 thread on another forum) I am knocking out my soaps left and right. The thing is, when you use a soap daily, which most shavers do NOT do, you not only learn the idiosyncrasies of the product, but they perform better when they doesn't sit around for 6 months between usages. Anyway, this was a great soap and I enjoyed the many great lathers it produced.

I agree the more you use a soap you get to know the get the most out of it and you can tell if it’s helping or drying out your skin.

I always thought if anyone had finished a few ETHOS products it would have been you and especially that Hybrid Skin Food Splash.

Dave in KY I know you like to change soaps almost daily so I get it. With that said in the hot summer we had this past year I managed to finish off my jar ofcthe original Greenfresh and the first Peppermint which both were the softest soaps I have ever made. So how I used mine up was I loaded from the jar which of course picked up way more product than I needed for a shave being so soft but at that point I didn’t care and I’d grab all the lather that was left in my hands and work it around my face afterwards and let it sit until I cleaned up my gear. I’m embarrassed to admit it but because the Peppermint was also incredibly soft I would take a little gob out of the jar in the shower and both shave and wash my hair and body using this special pad I had and I used that up quickly in that manner and I couldn’t wait to make the first F Base in both those scents. lol

Well these last few posts made my morning and now I think I’ll go shave. What to use? lol

UPDATE

In case anyone is interested, I made 3 Tallow Shave Crème’s as we were out. Blood Orange, Ravello and Bergamotto. I have to say they all came out great as far as scent wise but I made a couple of adjustments to the Bergamotto and it smells even better than previous batches.

Also made two quick mid sized batches of Lavender Supreme and Sucess and I again adjusted the Aromatic ingredients in Succes as I now have authentic Pineapple Essential oil and used it instead of using the Pineapple accord I have been using and it smells even better and kicked up the scent strength a bit also. I’ve never seen a Pineapple EO before but found it through one of my suppliers in Europe as he told me it’s a First! The distillers found a way of extracting the oils from fresh Pineapple. Im excited to have this EO and my minds already thinking what I can do with it for a new Summer Scent.

Also had a little fun with the Lavender Supreme. As you know I get my Lavender EO direct from a grower in France and it’s the best I’ve ever smelled but I also got some Lavender EO from my Italian supplier as he had some Tuscan Lavender which for him is locally grown and he says it’s amazing so I ordered some and I agree. Is it better than the one I’ve been using? Nope it’s different but also amazingly good. I’ve heard about Tuscan Lavender before but it’s hard to find especially at US suppliers and in fact I was talking to Eden Botanicals about it a couple of years ago and the women I work with said they carried it years ago but weren’t able to get it anymore.
Well anyway I mixed a little in with the French and all I can say is wow! If you thought it smelled great before this one takes it a step up. I had to take one home as now and then I like a nighttime before bed shave and Lavender is my go to aroma. It also reminds me of my old friend Mark aka ShaveMD as he was a nighttime shaver due to his job hours at the hospital. Towards the end it and the ShaveMD were the only scents that didn’t stir up his asthma along with the Unscented which he used exclusively when it got bad. I also remember the first time he used Lavender Supreme he called me afterwards and said “ now that’s a amazing Lavender and it became his favorite and I made him and his wife and daughter a bunch of other Lavender products.

I also got the Beaute Sauvage started and I expect to finish making it on Monday. It’s a unique Aroma blend that takes you on a journey in the same manner that Lost Souls and King of the North does and for me Dragonsbeard does as well but in a completely different way as it has a bit of spiciness to it that the others don’t so it’s the first spicy Aroma Blend I’ve done up till now and to me represents the Tiger that this release is all about.
Here’s the Aromatic blend and it’s 100% natural. No synthetics.

Aromatic Ingredients: Natural Aroma Blend of Immortelle Absolute, Turmeric CO2 Extract, Calabrian Bergamot EO, Japanese Yuzu EO, Cardamom EO, Turmeric EO, Rose Geranium EO, Spikenard EO, Labdanum EO, Ylang Ylang EO, Amyris EO, East Indian Sandalwood EO, White Champaca EO.

Lastly I will be making a batch of Derma Boost this coming Wednesday and I’ll release it on either Friday or Saturday morning. It’s Super Food for anyone’s skin. I’ll post up more detailed information in another post. next week.
