Haha! It’s funny I know the feeling. My old friend ShaveMD used to do that to me with razors. He’d get one and say “ wow you gotta try this it’s the smoothest razor or love the feel of it or great balance etc etc ) and the next thing I knew I had one in my den just when I thought I was done buying razors. I built quite the Collection that way. So I found myself saying Damn you more than a few times. Lol
Ok guys I have to share a quick couple of scent stories with you. An a customer who just messaged me about the Honeysuckle Aroma reminded me that I need to share these with you.
Now this happened two times in the last couple of weeks with two different Aromas. The Honeysuckle and the Watermelon Mint. So after making the Honeysuckle Shave soap and a sample Skin Food Splash I stopped at a supermarket that’s on my way home as I do often and while in there 2 different women asked me what is that smell and I said I just made a shave soap and aftershave with Honeysuckle Essential oil and they both said that’s what it is and each had their own story of growing up around Honeysuckle. I said to myself ok I guess this was a good idea and one of then had asked for a business card as I had mentioned to her that I also make custom colognes and perfumes and she said can you make me one out of he Honeysuckle Essential Oil and I said of course I can. So she called me to place an order just yesterday.
Almost same thing happened to me after making the Watermelon Mint only it was 3 different people that made comments after asking me what I had on. Honestly as I mentioned before in a post that was the messiest infusion I’ve done up till now and it was all over me and to make things even more intense I had splashed some Skin Food Splash on as I wanted to test the longevity of the splash scents d the cooling effect. Well not only did I get asked what I had on but other people that happened to hear the one lady at check out joined in on the conversation. So the Watermelon Mint got quite the positive reception from multiple people both men & women. Bottom line is the 2 scents that I was most worried about before starting them turned out to get the most attention and comments in a public place.
Don’t get me wrong I’ve gotten comments and compliments on what I was wearing many times from colognes I’ve had on or some of the EDT/EDP’s and even some aftershaves I’ve made myself especially at my other jobs where I’m around co workers I know but never from a shave soap have I gotten so much attention from complete strangers. It really surprised me
Another good story that happened last summer was at this Italian specialty store I frequent quite often as I love to cook and being Italian it’s the best place to find the ingredients I like to use. I know the owners very well and they have created a family like atmosphere in the store that is felt instantly to most who go there. Love the place. Anyway they also have food that’s made their that you can take out or eat right there in a small sitting area. Their Subs are the best in town so I’ve gotten them many times throughout the years. So this day I had taken a shower and shaved with Succes and also splashed on the Skin Food Splash followed with the EDP after getting dressed. So I go to the store as it was lunch time and was craving their Italian assorted sub so went to the area to get the sub made and not only did the owners son who happed to be right there but also his mom who is one of the two owners and the girls behind the counter all followed up with what the heck do you have on that smells so darn good? I told them the name of course and a little history about the connection to the very first batch of Creed Aventus which none of them had ever heard of or experienced. They were of course shocked at what a bottle of juice costs. After asking what I charge for the Succes EDP the first to say he wanted one was the owners son followed by his mother who wanted one for her husband and then I got bombarded by the staff behind the counter and some other staff members that were told about it and came up to the area I was in and were told to smell me! Lol I ended up getting 14 orders from them and reorders from some of them since. It’s funny how scent can have an effect on people. I sure some of you have stories to tell about scents.
So there’s my bedtime story as I’m trying to make myself sleepy and get some much needed sleep.
So have a good night everyone!
Frank

Not to make you blush, but IMO that’s a terrific post Frank Dragonsbeard - one of the nicest, most engaging I’ve read in a while.

Frank Dragonsbeard what a wonderful vignette of your experience and relationship with the scents you are creating. Thank you for sharing all of this.
