Ok so I listened to my customer and members on here way back when I only had the 7.5 oz jars as many of you requested a smaller size which as you know I added the 4.5 oz size and it's done well but all along the way any Shave soap that was still available in the 7.5 oz has sold out especially in the Lavender Supreme and Success and at one time the Clean. Also I've been asked multiple times from customers if they can get a specific Shave Soap or Creme in the 7.5 oz as a custom order.  So I'm sitting here with a boat load of these large jars and I'm wondering now that a couple of years have gone by maybe things have changed.

So my question to you is how many of you would like to see some or all the Shave Soaps and Creme's come in both sizes. To me the pros are you pay less per oz when purchasing the larger size and the cons are you pay more out of pocket.  Obviously it also takes longer to go through the larger size so that may be a plus for some and a minus for others.  I'm at the crossroads on this and want to make a strong decision on this subject. I will also post this on social media as I have a good amount of customers on there.  Also not sure if I should keep the 7.5 oz as an exclusive to the ETHOS website as I have in the past or let the vendors carry them also.

Any input would be a big help and PLEASE when responding quote so this post doesn't get lost as it is the weekend and I know the site gets a little slow so someone who chimes in on Monday may not see it to give their input as it's no longer visible or is on the previous page and gets lost.

I think you should offer both sizes, especially in the creams.  Some of us prefer small, and others the larger size.  I like the idea of a travel size as well, especially for the creams which are easier to scoop out into a travel bowl.  IMHO, if the larger sizes are not selling as well, it is most likely the price point.

Thank you Captainjonny for the input. The main reason I stopped the Travel size is I couldn’t get the jars during and right after Covid but they are available now again and I’ll be bring them back in the Mixology Collection. One label, different scents.

The large sizes sold well when I offered them so that’s one of the reasons I’m thinking of bringing them back.

Enjoy your weekend!

Smaller jar is plenty for me. I have too much soap already.

Using the F-base, I would be loading the brush directly from the jar in the shower (holding the jar upside down). The larger jar MIGHT be awkward, though I’ve never tried it. I would probably stick with the smaller jar unless the  $/oz saving was enough to be compelling. The large jar seems like a good fit for the creme though.

I have a sample jar of Rendevous from TRC. It’s a bit bigger (and nicer) than the typical sample jar from other companies. Is that the travel size? I would buy more of those, both for travel and for trying new/unfamiliar scents.

Indeed you did and I honestly didn’t see the end where you  guessed the correct answer.

Ok not to take anything away from anyone here I’ll send you both the prize.  Dan was the first one I saw with the correct answer and you legitimately were first but I didn’t see your answer.  So I feel better given both of you the prize. So a congrats to you as well my friend!

Dragonsbeard Apologies for the delayed response as I am working some critical projects this weekend. There was a bit of a wall of text ahead of my original entry response Smile  Thank you for offering the contest and your generosity allowing both Dan and I to enjoy the outcome. Can't wait to try Beauté Sauvage when available.

Frank, we as customers buy so many soaps from the same artisan largely due to the scent profile of a soap, given that the base to a large extent is constant, atleast for an year or so.

In my opinion, you would have some methodoly to reach a conclusion as to which of your soaps sell out faster or customers give you repeat orders. If I were you, I would go stastically to launch bigger jars based on what the aforementioned numbers tell me.

Hello sgarnett

I also load from the jar and I'm glad to hear that you load it upside down. I've been promoting loading that way for a long time since you want to keep as much water out of the jar of Shave Soap as possible. I mean we cure the soap to get some of the moisture out! The Jar is easy to handle and I've never had an issue loading from the larger size. As I stated before I'll be adding the Mixology Collection to my website in the near future so people will be able to buy some of the aroma blends in the same size and jar as you got with the Rendezvous sample you got.

Thanks for the input.

Frank

+1 for the large 7.5 oz jars. When it comes to your stuff, the bigger the better!

Well I worked my tail off today and got two batches of Tallow Shave Creme made and I changed both Aroma Blends on these two. The Blood Orange smells more balanced than the first go round and it's the new base and I added orange butter to the batch as well so it came out great. Letting it rest for a couple of days.  Also made a nice sized batch of Melange D'Agrume and this time it definitely is much more Grapefruit forward and I honestly was saying to a customer who called me while I was filling jars that I wanted to eat the darn shave creme! I love Grapefruit and this is what I wanted the Melange D'Agrume to smell like the first time around but I got to fancy with the blend back then. If you like a nice Ruby Red Grapefruit then I'm pretty sure your gonna love this one.  I also can't wait for my Cooling First Lather Labels to arrive as I can see laying a base of that and then loading up some of either of these two right over the First Lather for a nice cooling citrus summertime shave. It was a very productive day today. Now I wanna get out of here and go make some dinner.

Oh and I made some of the 7.5 oz sizes in both and those will for now only be available on the ETHOS website.

Also any of the original Blood Orange or Melange D'Agrume products that are leftover from the first run I'm going to put on sale as I want to replace them with the new aroma blends. So I'll be putting them up on sale shortly.

Hope your Sunday is a good one all

Frank
