Frank,

I am excited to hear the formulation will be incorporated in future releases. Also, there may need to be a new economic analysis for this version as well. I recall you mentioned someone did an accounting of the cost per shave with one of your past releases. In my initial experiences, this formulation reduces the amount of starting material required. Albeit I am still primarily bowl lathering, so it might be different loading off the puck. The first shave with Sandalo I started with my normal amount of soap. I tend to use a bit more given the consistency of lather I am after. The produced lather was meaningfully more than past versions. So for the second shave I reduced the starting material by roughly a 1/3. And the third shave I reduced the starting material yet again, and still had more than enough for a 3 pass. I realize there are differing price sensitivities across shavers. But on a cost per shave basis, I have to believe this base is at parity, or lower, versus other mid to premium tier offerings.

I want to get more shaves in with this base and then plan to do a detailed writeup on the Sandalo and new base to share here and another, ahem, forum Smile

So you brought up a excellent subject but one I can’t explain at this time and that’s the amount of the shave soap that’s needed to do let’s say a 3 pass shave. My one tester who got the first sample of the Sandalo new F Base called me the day he used it and said exactly what you mentioned. This gentleman btw has just about every Shave soap or Creme I’ve ever made and some custom ones as well. He was like I normally load your F Base about 15 to 20 seconds and I did that today and I homely have enough soap for 6 passes which is what he did just to see how much he got out of that load. The next day he said I tried loading for maybe 5 to 7 seconds and it was the perfect amount for 3 full passes. He also stated that he is going to document how many shaves he gets out of a 4,5 oz jar of the soap.  I’ve since heard from a couple of other customers that got theirs quickly that made mention about easy it is to later and how little is needed.  I homely at this point don’t have a 100% answer as to why.  The 3 added ingredients to me would only effect Slickness and post shave feel but scientifically should have no effect on the lather. So still trying to figure that out. What I need someone to do is a side by side with the Bay Rum to see if they are both the same in that area.

Excellent post as on a certain forum all everyone talks about when someone brings up ETHOS is it’s expensive.  I had a tester using a 7.5 oz size of the S Base Lavender Supreme compare it to several brand both less expensive and more expensive and the price per shave was close to the lowest cost per shave. So this base make supersede the S Base in that dept.

Thank you again for your order and support!

Frank

Frank- I know that you are busier than a one-armed paper hanger, but maybe if you could reintroduce your smaller travel size jars of shave soap, more people would try them and discover that they are cost-effective and top tier. Just food for thought…

The option of buying a 1oz jar of Vanilla Safi is why I bought the 4oz jar of Vanilla Safi.

I’m actually working on an idea to bring back the 1 oz sizes but in a different manor that I think will not only folks to try a scent/ product but also to create all kinds of options. I gottta get caught up on some of my Soapa sand the. I’m going to implement this new system into the ETHOS brand.

Thanks guys for the feedback and suggestions. I’m always open to hear ideas.

Best regards

Consecutive Daily Shaves - # 1,549

Will get back to the 1508.5 of NYC tomorrow but just had to use the Bay Rum today. I know there are many iterations and preferences and I am by no means an authority on what a Bay Rum is. But I AM an authourity on what I like and THIS is MY BAY RUM. Awesome scent and with the quality lather and ingrediants to make my skin wake up. GREAT job Frank Dragonsbeard and has me thinking hard on my soap collection and what I should narrow things down to. Why have all these amazing for my skin soaps and not get to them on a more regular time frame due to rotations. Dave is putting his thinking cap on........Have a great day everyone !

I can see this is one of those soaps that you need to exhibit a bit of patience once your shave is finished.  At first my skin had a slight grainy feel to it.  Now it has been a couple of hours and my skin feels super smooth and soft.  Of course when I asked my GF what she thought, all I got was rolled eyes and a chuckle.

Ok quick question…

What’s next on the list as far as bringing back one of the originals.

Not talking about new scents as I’ve got some in the works.

Out of these 3?

1. Vanilla Safi
2. Tonka Bean
3. Dragonsbeard

FYI The Vanilla Safi would take the longest of the 3 Dragonsbeard and Tonka Bean about the same time.

Always appreciate the feedback

I'm set on those 3 and in restraint for now so I'll respectfully sit this out

Vanilla Safi for me. I wasn’t able to grab it when it was released. I was intimidated by the price. I would like another shot at it though.
