So I'm seeing a few references to the Art of Shaving and Fine, since Fine did dupe the AoS scent. How similar will this be to the Art of Shaving Sandalwood? I ask because it's basically the gold standard for Sandalwood, and a classic. Kind of like Acqua di Parma. And there's honestly always room for more of either. If Creed Aventus can have a million dupes, so can AoS Sandalwood (AdP is getting there as well lol).
If this is an AoS dupe, it's a Day 1 buy from me.

You are correct. The original AOS Sandalwood aroma was duped by Fine and a nice scent by itself but it was done with all aroma chemicals unlike the AOS which did at the time have some Mysore Sandalwood Essential oil in it. Of course that’s no longer the case with the modern version as authentic Mysore Sandalwood if you can even get it averages around $500 an oz and up depending on the age nowadays. I’m very lucky I have a great source to get it but I only use the 3 different aged ones I have for custom order’s I’m commissioned to do. So financially impossible to use these days without charging hundreds of dollars for a puck of soap.
So although I like the Fine dupe I enjoy the Original AOS aroma better and I made that my target aroma. My version has a good amount of real East Indian Sandalwood oil and quite a bit of a Mysore Accord along with some other essential oils that make up the rest of the notes as the Original AOS Sandalwood aroma blend was not all Sandalwood EO had notes of Eucalyptus, Myrrh, Patchouli and Vanilla or Benzoin ( There is controversy over which one was used by the Fragheads ) I’m going with the Benzoin so the color stays close to the original as real Vanilla would turn it dark brown fairly quickly.
So it’s in my schedule to make it in my F Base Shave soap next weekend and then it’s got to cure so it’s not to far off being released and I’ll definitely be posting up the actual release date on the shaving forums I’m active on and Social Media.
You mentioned Acqua Di Parma Colonia and when I made my Colonia, I used Essential Oils and my target was a mix between ADP and Tom Ford Neroli Portofino so not a ADP fragrance oil dupe. Same with my Succes which I made from scratch and my target was the very first batch of Aventus with the stronger Pineapple note which I happen to like more than the modern version.
Good post and thank you for asking!

Personally I like the Dragonsbeard version of a Colonia scent better than the AdP…..YMMV….

I also already have 2 jars of the Colonia, and I hope that will be available in F-Base too so I can grab it. I'll be grabbing a couple jars of your Sandalwood-type in the F-Base if at all possible. Even more so if these are available in that large size you make.(03-12-2022, 11:15 AM)xterribad Wrote: So I'm seeing a few references to the Art of Shaving and Fine, since Fine did dupe the AoS scent. Thank you for the support and the next time I make Colonia it will be in the F Base and the Sandalwood will be available in both sizes. The 7.5 oz size is only on my website along with the 4.5 oz. My vendors will only get the 4.5 oz at least for now.
