I really like the results that I get with Ethos I just don't think I've purchased the right scent yet. I have the DFS Colonia which I like well enough but it's nothing new scent wise. The other I purchased I don't care for at all. Performance wise the products are too notch

I appreciate the feedback and I’m curious what’s the other scent you mentioned that you don’t care for? FYI the Colonia was what Andrew the owner of DFS wanted for the collaboration shave soap and it’s just my version of a cross between Aqua Di Parma and Tom Ford Neroli Portifino as I used notes from both to make my own blend. I have at least 3 other Colonia type scents as I like the scent myself but none I have use Neroli so I thought that would separate it from the pack of ADP dupes. So not a unique scent as you said but I’m pleased with how it came out as well as a lot of my customers.

I have many more scents to choose from with more coming out all the time as well as custom aroma options that are pretty much unlimited.   Most of my scents are made from essential oils, resins and other natural aroma ingredients as you may already know. I’m personally not crazy about very synthetic fragrance oils and avoid them. I will use some high quality accords now and then when needed to achieve a certain scent when there is no natural alternative like leather accord for example as there’s no such thing as Leather EO.

Aromas are such a personal thing and all a soap maker can do is either follow his or her intuitions when coming out with a new scent or take suggestions from customers and hope that the majority of the customers like them. So far I’ve been pretty lucky in that area but the old saying holds true. You can’t please all of the people all of the time. Lol

So what scents would you like to see in the ETHOS line up?  I love suggestions.

Best regards

Frank

No worries Frank, the other scent is one that, from responses in this thread, is quite popular but just really isn't for me. The DFS is quite nice but between the two I just don't find myself reaching for Ethos very much. I probably should have just kept it to myself as I honestly didn't mean to speak negatively about your brand as they really are top tier products

No worries.  I have had plenty of so called top tier shave soaps I don’t reach for not based on their performance but because the scent isn’t for me. Especially if their using strong synthetics but of course I’d never purposefully speak negatively about a particular brand publicly as I would never try to discredit a brand as that’s just not me. Like I mentioned I’m pretty fortunate that I have a lot of customers that like my aroma blends.

Sometimes it’s best to get samples first if their offered or ask the soap maker if they’d send you one.

To make a very long story short if someone could find and  send me the fragrance notes profile I could get it done much, much faster than spending a long time on the bench trying to duplicate it with so many other projects in the works.

Thanks for the reminder BTW!

Hi Brian

Not yet my friend. Honestly I’m not sure looking at the fragrance notes if it’s something I’d be interested in releasing but I will order a sample to check it out as I know you like it a lot so I’ll give it a sniff.  There are so many great aroma blends I want to do using natural blends.

The colognes I like are usually not the typical department store brands but I always try to keep an open mind.

Thanks for the suggestion my friend.

UPDATE:

Ok so round one of the Dragonsbeard F Base Shave soap is made.  I’ve got a method I use to put the Aroma blend in so I don’t loose the scent so tomorrow I’ll proceed with that.

Again anyone who wants a black glass jar please message me so when I start filling I can do yours.

On Wednesday I’ll make the Dragonsbeard Shave Creme and basically it’s the same thing as far as the Black glass jar goes.

This whole week is devoted to everything DB and I’ll list everything that will be available and a release date towards the end of the week.

This place smells awesome today. Lol
