Now back to Ethos Products. ITS AWESOME! What Ethos does for your skin before, during and after the save is rare. Your skin will feel fantastic, soft, clean and nourished. Now I understand why people will pay limitless amounts of money for Ethos Grooming Essential products, and I’m now one of them.
Thank you Frank for your dedication, your hard work, for your love and care for your company. Your products speak for itself… it’s the best out there.
Thank you Jonathan for the kind, thoughtful and encouraging words. Means a lot buddy.
I will say although your relatively new to the hobby I must say you’ve come a long way in a very short time. Especially with gathering some serious razors.
Enjoy the journey my friend!

Hi Michael
Sorry it took so long I was off the grid yesterday.
So Replenish 2% Hyaluronic acid serum is a water based product and I’m not sure if you’ve read up on Hyaluronic acid but it is one of the best moisturizing ingredients there is. I use 2% which is the highest percentage that’s used in the skin care industry. A lot use 1% and 1.5 % and they are all good I just chose to put in the max in my serum. It’s very light on the skin and absorbs quickly. I’d suggest a quit read on all the benefits of Hyaluronic acid. I also have info on my website on it.
The Remede Serums are oil based so the two products feel completely different on the skin. I developed 4 different formulas to address different skin types. I have customers that use only one serum post shave be it Replenish or Remede and they might use the other like at night before going to bed or in the morning if they are not shaving but I also have customer who use both. One right after the other and if that’s the case I always recommend using the Hyaluronic acid serum first and then let it dry down some before applying the Remede serum as the oil based Remede would partially block the water based Replenish from going in as deep into the skin if you used the oil based product first. I’m one who uses more of the Replenish especially in the warm weather but then as the winter weather starts rolling in I’ll use one serum one day and the other the next day or I’ll use Remede at night before going to bed. Of course everyone is different.
So two completely different types of serums. Both excellent for skin health.
Hope that explains things.
Frank, using these serums (water base or oil base), when is the best time to use an aftershave splash?
I can’t say enough about the Vanilla Safi performance or its scent. It has taken my shave den by storm. Decadent, rich and sublime. This is a grand slam of a soap by the creative hands and mind of Frank Dragonsbeard. Perfection achieved in my book on every facet of a shave soaps requirement. If it gets any better than this, then honestly, Frank is a soap making Savant, period.

It will be nice if you use the splash first and then either of the serums

Frank, using these serums (water base or oil base), when is the best time to use an aftershave splash?
Hello my friend
This is a personal thing with many of my customers who have Replenish, Remede and one of the Skin Food Splashes or let’s include any aftershave out there with the exception of a post shave balm which can be fairly to quite heavy on the skin. So with that said from a skin chemistry viewpoint I’d recommend using the Replenish Hyaluronic acid serum as the first post shave product you’d use because of its ability to descend to the lower levels of the skin. Then followed by the Remede Serum of choice ( depending on skin type ) the Remede serums where developed to address the mid & upper levels of the skin as well as forming a natural protective film on the skins surface. So at that point if you have to be somewhere and have to get dressed I’d say after doing so apply your aftershave splash. For scent reasons only because if it’s an alcohol based aftershave that’s about the only benefit your going to get from if because although it might slightly remove some of the oil based serum you already used it will evaporate very quickly and not remove all of the serum. Now in the case of the Skin Food Splash which has not only a dose of Hyaluronic acid in it but the EOS Complex which contains many different active ingredients that address all layers of the skin especially the lower and middle levels of the skin so it’s kind of counter productive to use it for just the scent although I know a lot of people that do use it only for the scent because they’ve already used the Remede serum. Now if you use only the Replenish Hyaluronic acid serum post shave using the Skin Food Splash about a minute or so afterwards ( I clean up my gear while waiting ) then apply the Skin Food Splash with its active ingredients that actually add to the benefits that the concentrated benefits of the Hyaluronic acid serum already deposited in your skin. Like I mentioned in a previous post that’s where I stop applying post shave products and go right to my cologne I’m wearing that day after getting dressed or several minutes after using the Skin Food Splash.
If it’s winter where sometimes my skin gets a bit dry from dry indoor heat or from being out in the cold wintertime weather for an extended period of time I’ll definitely use the Remede serum. So I’m applying 3 different post shave products in that order and then followed by my cologne EDP of the day which is applied several minutes after applying the other three post shave products.
Also as a note, many times I’ll use the serums at different times of the day and not always post shave. As an example if let’s say I do a shave in the morning and use both the Replenish Hyaluronic acid serum and a Skin Food Splash I might use the Remede serum when I’m getting ready to go to bed after cleansing my face and let the serum do it’s thing overnight. Of course this routine can be switched around and you can use the Hyaluronic acid serum at night instead and use the Remede post shave.
This brings up another subject. Cleansing the Skin which is very important no matter what our skins own sebum builds up and some people have very aggressive oil generating glands. Also during a day the skin can pick up lots of dirt particles as well as many other environmental or work related particles. So cleansing the skin twice a day is very important in a good skincare regime. In the case of extremely dry skin I’d suggest using a very mild or non soap based soap cleanser.
I read on another forum something that made me laugh to myself when I saw someone post that a shave soap gave him a 50 plus hour post shave! I wanted to chime in and say “ you mean you didn’t wash your face for 50 hours? If he had responded with a yes I would have say to him dude, that’s just plain nasty! I mean the post shave benefits of any shave soap would be long gone by then and the amount of natural oils your skin produces would have taken over along with other environmental, work related or by just touching things like door handles, railings, equipment etc and then touching our faces after touching these dirty sometimes oily objects we come in contact with all the time. It was in my opinion that he was just trying to sensationalize the 2 brands of shave soaps capabilities he seems to always be promoting while many times including some subtle negative comments about many well loved and respected brands. This kind of misinformation and behavior I or many of my soap making friends have no respect for and if you see they kind of post/comments please don’t take them seriously as good information! Do your own homework or ask questions to people who know what their talking about when wanting to know about a product or an ingredient.
Hope this post helps guys.
Great shaves my friends!
