Had an outstanding shave today with Agrumes. Am I the only one concerned with new soap base variants?
These original base soaps were so good and still so far advanced, it hard to believe new variants can be as good, let alone better. Face it, has been well over a year and no other artisan's base has come close to matching the performance.
Not slamming development, simply concerned. The ethos of ETHOS was the same as Punk - return to simplicity of a consistent base versus constant fleeting reformulations and ephemeral special editions having come to dominate the artisan scene.

Well….the initial report with Safi is “This may be the best ETHOS soap yet. It provided excellent cushion, great slickness yet as all ETHOS produces do, my skin felt soft and conditioned without being oily. The soap also easily rinsed off my razor and brush. Frank you have outdone yourself, great new offering.”
That sounds pretty good to me…
Unlike many other artisans, Frank’s is actually in a lab and is using his knowledge, experience and expertise in scents and skin science/technology to constantly up his game…as he should. Nothing stands still. And we benefit…positive change is good!!

Hi Dan
Let me start out by saying thank you for the encouraging words on the M base. What I’d like to Reassure you that the M base which you have had plenty of experience with is no different than it has been with one exception it’s just a bit firmer and as a measuring stick think a tiny bit firmer than the Clean Unscented is which was the firmest of all the M base soaps until this latest batch of the Greenfresh which was the first soap to be adjusted. I can also assure you that the ingredient that did firm up the soap will have 0 negative effects on the shaving characteristics of any of the previous M base soaps.
As far as creating new bases my reasons for creating 2 new bases are pretty simple. One is there are customers out there that won’t use anything with animal ingredients in their soaps so ETHOS M base was not a shave soap that they would have in their den for that one reason. The other reason is their are certain aroma blends that would be better suited for a cream base and it’s not hard to imagine an animal fat cream as well as a vegan cream moving forward.
The new upcoming F base was also developed for those that absolutely want a firmer base and a soap that they can always load from the jar. Again it has kept some customers from adding a ETHOS shave soap from being a part of their den. I have been using the two versions of the F base I made and I have another couple people using them as well but I’ve pretty much come to a conclusion that one of the two out preforms the other in the areas of protection, slickness and post shave. I will say it has some unique shaving characteristics that I’ll go into when the first release happens. I will say this base allows me to up the percentage of the EOS Complex and there’s added Hyaluronic acid plus some other excellent skin beneficial ingredients in the new F base.
So bottom line a diverse menu of shave soaps to suit diverse skin types and customers shaving preferences.
You know I’m not the type to constantly change my base. I feel good about these 3 soap bases.
There’s only one more soap base to make and that one will be very targeted to a specific skin type I think I you know about.
One more topic I’d like to address and that are the Limited releases.. I will continue to do then when I either get enough of a demand from my customers or if I feel a passion to created one. Much like the Vanilla Safi. It’s a modified version of the M base with some special ingredients in it.
I very much appreciate your input Dan.
Hope all is well with you and yours!

Thank you very much my friend for the encouraging words and your right, science, technology and nature are continuously changing. Plus it’s just my curious exploratory nature that keeps me moving forward.

Used a Bic blade and did a 3,2,1 level shave WTG, XTG & ATG. Great slickness and protection from the Soap. Doesn’t get any better. Happy Father’s Day to all you Dads.
Another awesome photo Mark! How is that razor compared to both the Gibbs and the Rex?
