So based on some feedback I’ve gotten or read about I’ve been toying with an idea so I put that to work and I made another shave soap base. It’s got some of the skin care goodies that are found in my normal base but there are folks out there that like a hard soap or should I say a lot harder than mine has been as they want to load from the jar. So I’m sending this base out to a couple of trusted testers for their unbiased feedback on this new base. An I have options to adjust it should it need to be. I used it this morning and it’s very easy to load. Takes a bit of water which I gradually added.
( Oh and on a side note my regular base is thirsty and if you ain’t adding water to it then your not achieving the full potential of the soap in regards to slickness. )
Anyway back to the new base. So I used it this morning and what’s kind of cool is it’s still rinses clean which is a must for me but the post shave is different than the regular base as it gradually builds with time an I’ve got to see where it’s at in another 12 hrs but it’s pretty noticeable. I may tweak it a bit after some feedback and more testing but my plan is to make some soaps with this new base and some with the existing base as I think there are guys out there that would cut my head off if I changed the current base I have or should I say discontinued my current base. I’m also working on a Vegan Creme and a very special one off base that won’t come in different scents that’s specifically developed for people with ultra sensitive skin.
So my plan is to offer different bases to suit the needs of most anyone.
NOTE: Ive always wanted to state something that’s been on my mind for a while. As some of you know I’ve been developing skin and hair care products for over 27 years now and doing educational classes when dealing with hair products and the professionals that use them. I’ve asked this question many times. What’s the main objective of a Shampoo?
Correct answer is... to cleanse your hair and scalp! Can a shampoo condition your hair? Yes it can BUT it can only condition your hair to a certain extent but nowhere near what a actual hair conditioner or hair treatment can do to improve your hair.. that’s a scientific fact!
Well I feel very similar to that with shaving products. The shave soap has a purpose and it’s main purpose is to provide protection and slickness when using a sharp blade to remove hair from your face or any other hair whether on your head or body. Any post shave skin benefits you get from the shave soap is a bonus and I know some soaps do a better job of that than others but a soap cannot provide or deliver the level of skin beneficial ACTIVE ingredients that post shave products can. It’s also not my intention to produce a shave soap whether hard or a soft creme that leaves a coated residue feeling on your skin or that leaves your skin feeling oily in a matter of a hour or two after using it. So over super fattening a soap is not in my cup of tea as a soap maker.
Also I’ll be doing a in depth post on the EOS Complex in my merchant section in the next day or two as I need to clear some things up in regards to it as I’ve read some comments that are so off base their almost comical at best.
Anyway a quick photo of the first tester of the harder shave soap. This one has the Succes Pineapple Noir scent in it.
Great shaves all!
Having no expertise in soap or cosmetic biology and chemistry, many posts go right over my head - especially vendor posts. However, your post makes good, clear sense, and it's a real breath of fresh air.
Thanks. I'm looking forward with the others, eagerly, to see your game plan unfold.
