Seriously!

You shave vendors need to fix the uneven shelves in your virtual stores. All sorts of products just sliding right off as you scroll by.

When you guys shave with the Ethos soaps, how much product are you using? I'm scooping some out and last night I didn't have enough lather for a second pass. I want to blame my brush choice (badger) and say I should've used a synthetic, but I think that I'm being too shy with the product. The Dragonsbeard v2 is pretty soft so I can smear a small amount across a dish and load however much. Does anyone want to suggest how much I should use next time? Thanks

Typically load a peanut sized amount for a 3 pass face shave using a 28mm badger; almond size if want to conclude with a pass on the arms or chest

I use a 3/4 peanut sized dollop of Ethos which is smeared on the bottom of my ridged bowl. Using a synthetic brush I can generate plenty of lather for a 2 pass shave. I then leave the remaining lather in the bowl and wipe the excess off on the bowl’s edges. The bowl is then left open to air dry allowing scent to linger in the bathroom. Despite most of the “foam/lather” evaporating over the day when I shave the next day I only need to use the wet synthetic brush to regenerate a second day 2 pass lather. By the third day the lather is too thin and a new 3/4 peanut dollop is used to top up the supply or restart with a different Ethos soap.

Already answered but another consideration is the size brush you use and whether it hogs lather or not. I need very little to get a 3-4 pass shave in and still rinse some out of the brush into the drain......

Agreed. Also the brush type...

Viewing the pic from your next post, it makes sense to me. A synth is going to keep zero from the mixture. You'll end up 'getting as much as you give', as the phrase goes. On the other side of the coin, I find my badgers make less regardless of how well I hydrate them first.

EDIT: Just for clarification... This isn't Ethos specific. Not sure I've ever lathered Ethos with a badger. It's a soaps in general observation, fwiw.

I always use an almond size of shave soap if I’m using a badger but I’m a lather hog no matter what soap I use. I love lather and lots of it but I can use less soap than that and still get a great lather. Synthetic brushes seem to lather a little bit easier but not a huge difference although I have two badgers that take a little more lather to get them to load as easily as my others.

Thank you for the replies. Next time I use it I will take a picture of how much I put on the dish and take a lather shot. Whether its a synthetic knot or badger, I usually use a 24mm knot. Synthetic has been working better for daily shaving in the last year so I use badger a lot less. I may go for an "almond" scoops worth and think its worth a try. The after shave on Dragonsbeard is very nice on both the scent and the performance. I really like both of the soap and AS formulas and think they do pretty well on my skin.
