So, I’m trying to keep up here, but it sounds like there is a new version (V2)

Sorry if I’m off base, just trying to figure out what to order.

The Lavender scent sounds the most appealing to me, but I want to make sure its the best base he offers.

Thanks

The V2 is the Ethos Dragonsbeard out now. The V1 was a collaboration with Oleo before Ethos was launched

Is there much difference between Dragonsbeard V1 and V2?

I have V1 and really enjoy the scent.

I guess I can explain it best the difference between the V1 and V2 Dragonsbeard Shave soap.  V1 was a collaboration between the then named Oleo Soapworks. The soap was Oleos base with the addition of sone of the ingredients I suggested to use in the base such as the Sheep & Camel milk and my EOS Complex. The scent was my creation and it was all natural with the exception of 2 aroma chemicals which was the Amber and the Rose. So let’s jump ahead to the V2 Dragonsbeard soap. First off it’s my soap base not Oleos base. I use my normal Grass fed beef tallow, Duck fat but also added Camel Hump fat. It still has fresh Camel and Sheep’s milk in it so that is the same. Some different oils and butters etc. As far as the aroma blend goes, this time it’s 100% natural as I substituted the synthetic Amber and Rose for natural Amber EO and Rose Absolute. So when I compare the two the difference to my nose is it’s a bit deeper and richer. I also increased the scent percentage to the Shave soap, Skin Food Splash and I added a EDP at the request of a bunch of my customers.

So two very different soaps but still similar in appearance and in scent. Performance for most is noticeably different from V2 and it’s more of a croap than the harder V1 was.

So that’s the difference.

BTW V2 is sold out.  The V3 will make its appearance again next fall and I have some ideas on that base.

I will however continue to offer the Skin Food splash and EDP until I run out of this current batch of the aroma blend. Right after the holidays I’ll begin to put together a new batch the aroma
blend which takes about 5 to 6 months to infuse.

Finally my package arrived safely after almost a month! All products came in perfect condition and the sandalwood scent is intoxicating.
The V2 is much darker than the V1 version and the consistency is not that firm, being similar to a croap. The smell is a bit different, too - stronger, deeper, slightly more floral to my nose. Very, very nice!

Thank you Frank for putting up these marvelous products, barely looking forward to give them a try tomorrow!

I'm glad you got all your gear my friend. That was a long journey those products had to take. Enjoy and let us know what you think.

First shave today with the new Dragonsbeard soap, and as expected it didn't disappoint. Besides the olfactory differences( which became clearer and clearer once using the soap ), I found the new V2 to be more cushioning and better in terms of post shave feel than the previous version. The lather is very thick, having a spackle consistency( it resembles a bit to B&M Softheart ) and has the tendency to harden in time, rather than dissipating. It provides excellent slickness, cushion and post shave feel.

The smell is absolutely amazing, when I first smelled it, it seemed more floral than the previous version, which turned out to be true, the V1 smells rougher, cocoa like, while the V2 is more refined, deeper - the vanilla is more present rounding out the scent beautifully. A very complex, slightly gourmand scent that holds its intensity during the whole shave and can be traced also after the shave.

The preshave resembles in consistency with A&E slick stick, providing excellent glide and protection during the shave. In my opinion, it can be used as a standalone shaving product, as it produces a thick putty like lather, that provides very good slickness and cushioning. Very, very good product.

Needless to say, the sandalwood skin food splash is the real deal, the smell is pure, untainted, high quality sandalwood and the skin care properties are all there. It didn't sting while applying it, nor did it leave my face greasy or oily in any way. My face felt great during the whole day. Excellent product.

This being said, I cannot recommend Frank's products highly enough, they are among the most innovative in the industry! Thank you, Frank and keep up the good work!
