Oh no here we go again!  Big Grin

Oh and I’ll have to get a sample of the Le Labo Ylang 49 when I go see my son in NYC.

I too can vouch for Ylang 49 - it is a great composition by one of the most underrated perfumers, Frank Voelkl (who is responsible pretty much for all of the good LeLabo offerings to my nose, at least).  If you need a sample Frank, reach out to me offline as I own a bottle of the stuff and can hook you up.

Hello my friend! It’s been awhile since we had one of our phone conversations about aromatics.

I’d love to get a sample as I won’t be going to NYC till October. I’m interested in the notes that make up the composition. As you know I’m more into natural Aromatics than synthetics but what I like to do is see if the notes within a synthetic aroma blend can be substituted with naturals. Since we’ve last talked I’ve taken a class in Artisanal Perfuming where only natural

Aromatic’s are used. and I have two more scheduled in 2024 . I love it and It’s a growing trend in perfumery as you probably already know.

Also you’ll find this interesting but I took an online class from Le Labo about 6 months ago.

Let’s talk soon! I’m around.

Kind regards

Frank

It's sharp and it cuts. I like it...
Northeast, USA
Just came in today. The Ravello scent in both soap & splash is utterly fantastic. A juicy green fig note that is super realistic and nearly mouth watering. On par practically with ADP’s Fico Di Amalfi. On the menu for this weekend for sure. The Fresco soap stick is nearly as good with a nice citrus burst. It will pair perfectly with the splash that I’ve had for some time now. But, the Cooling stick booster is one that really has me chomping at the bit to try. It’s going to be in the mid 90’s this Labor Day weekend on the East Coast (Jersey) and it will be the perfect remedy for that high heat. Oooohhh Yeeeaaahhhh!!!! As always, impeccable packaging and protection from Frankie and his team of shave elf packagers.

Thank you Gus for the kind words my brother.

We are getting 3 90 degree days here in Western NY so I’m with you my friend. It will be both Peppermint and Greenfresh and I’ll be using the First Lather Cooling as that kicks things up a few notches.  Dare I try it with B&M’s Terror. That’s the coolest Shave Soap and Solash I’ve ever used.  In fact he tricked me once when he first launched it at the Maggards  Meet up where we exchanged soap and splash. He got Dragonsbeard and I got Terror.  He tricked me. As he handed it to me he told me be very liberal with it when you splash the aftershave on. Of course like a dummy I listened to him and I froze my face, lips and some got on my right eyelid and that was froze to.  I still have a jar and pull it out when I want really cold!  I still owe him one for that!

Your Peppermint splash is in fifth gear. Tell him to use it with the candy cane on Xmas morning.

LMAO Matt!

That’s a good one!

Oh I’m going to get him back! There’s a cooling agent that you can only get in China that’s the coldest additive there is and I’m getting some soon but he probably wouldn’t fall for that one so I got to come up with something that would catch him off guard .. maybe I’ll make him a aftershave that’s so Hot like a jalapeño pepper or something like that. I did rub it in after the first time I made the Vanilla Safi because in a conversation months before he said “ don’t waste your time trying it can’t be done when I asked about doing a 100% real Vanilla shave soap. After I made it I was busting his chops on the phone and he changed his story and said I didn’t say you couldn’t make one I said it’s to expensive to make.. I’m like yeh yeah yeah. That’s not what I remember you saying. We both had a good laugh over that. I will say he wasn’t the only one that told be don’t bother trying to make a real Vanilla soap.

I need to give him a call it’s been a while since we’ve talked. There’s going to be a Shave Meet in NYC at Pasteur’s and I’ll see if he’s going to be there if so I have to come up with something to bust his chops. My turn for revenge lol

All in fun of course. Wills a good guy and I highly respect what he’s accomplished in this business.

BTW I think that cooling ingredient that I’m getting from China will take my Ice Dragon drops to a whole other level of cold and anything else I may put it in moving forward.

Enjoy the Labor Day weekend!

So there is a new formula for the F base? I must admit, I haven't paid close attention to the other ingredients, but I see Lanolin is still listed. I'm guessing that hasn't changed... or is the site still showing the old formula?

Thanks!

Brother, I think Frank tweaked F around 2 years back. Not sure exactly what happened but dramatically better.

I believe Frank tweaked it again recently, around the introduction of Sandalo Artistico . I believe there was an improved skin beneficial added along with a few other changes that I can't recall. I noticed a meaningful change (hard to believe when it was already so good) with Sandalo and Frank has commented on the changes earlier in the thread.
