'Equivalent' brushes to the Kent BK4

I was recently given aKent BK4 - a brush that I'd been eyeing for quite some time. As I feared, I rally like the derned thing. Of course that means I need to get at least one more as good so I won't be tempted to use it every day.

What are some similar brushes to it? I'm thinking from the likes of Simspons, Rooney, et al.

Can you pinpoint what you are looking for, i.e., more backbone, larger knot, another silvertip or maybe a boar or synthetic? So many choices...

Do you really want something similar? Or just excellent, albeit somewhat different? You like'em floppy - Thater 2-band badge. Prefer some backbone and soft tips, Shavemac 2-band silvertip or D01-three band silvertip. These would be great. Be sure to have photos taken at the moment they hit your kisser! We want to see that look on your face.

Definitely soft and I think floppy but still able to work up a lather.

I've looked up Simpson and Rooney but I am not nearly as familiar with Thater, Plisson, Shavemac. I'm sure there's some good ones I haven't heard of or read over because I was totally unfamiliar.

Thater and Shavemac as noted above will make you happy. As an inexpensive option or add on, consider one of the newer synthetics. I just acquired the Sreling Kongg, a 26mm. knot which is very soft and easy to lather. The Razorock Plissoft has a little more backbone but is still soft. Simpsons are great but probably not as soft as your Kent. Not sure of the current status of Rooney. I have read about some problems there.

Leonhardy VP brushes. Nice long loft and dense. Check them out. Vulfix are also similar but less dense and not as good as the BK4

Cergtainly hard to beat at that price point. The new synthetics are quite amazing.

I do believe that RazoRock Pillsoft has converted me to a synthetic guy. Now I'm trying to decide between Plisson and Muhlë/EJ STF 2.0. I'm also trying to decide whether to go less expensive (La Maison du Barberier - smaller Muhlë) or more (Plisson proper - EJ 25mm).

What do y'all think?
