Drakkar Noir and Grandson

Drakkar is the only fragrance I have worn in the last 20+yrs...

That is wonderful to have both a son and a grandson interested in wet shaving. I have no male heirs. I have one daughter and one granddaughter. I have no nephews either. I have a shave den full of straight razors, strops, hones, DE razor, blades, brushes, soaps, etc. and no one to bequeath them to.

I do have a son-in-law, but he shaves with an electric razor and has expressed no interest in wet shaving. I was the same way until I retired, so there may be hope for him yet.

My granddaughter is a Junior in High School. I hope one day she will marry someone whom I can interest in wet shaving. With my luck, she will fall in love with someone who sports a full beard.

Those ladies might choose to use the DE blade too!  Many of the ladies in my life use brush and soap.  The Leaf razor works great for two of them

Drakkar Noir is one of THE greatest male fragrances extant!! The vintage version is far deeper & richer and a real "panty dropper" with some women known to have become pregnant from merely whiffing it!! A neighbor's son once walked by my place on his way to elementary school and unfortunately for him I had left a window cracked as I was applying Drakkar Noir. Later that day he graduated High School.......with a beard and joined the Marines. 

AWESOME report!  And I get it.  Some folks don’t like my vintage Aramis….making them wrong.

My Bro-in-Law also sports the Drakkar.  But he only has girl children….Hahaha.  I get it.  Such a popular scent that I know I’m the odd man.  Keep rocking it my friend!

My 19 year old male coworker loves Drakkar Noir. He told me he has like ten bottles.

It’s fun when a Grandson shows interest in all my shaving junk.  His dad is also a wet shaver and although this munchkin is only in second grade he has an old Gillette flair, a synthetic brush (custom mind you), and some soaps.  He’ll lather up on weekends and scrub that soap off with his blade less Gillette.  But every single day he slaps on some aftershave or cologne and thoroughly enjoys himself when he comes over and sniffs his Dobby’s collection.  He asked me today if I might have some cologne he could give his Dad for Christmas and his Mom drove him over. (She said he was going to give his Dad one of his but my daughter knew I would hook a brother up.) so around lunchtime he and I (and mom) spent some time sniffing.  He chose an old vintage bottle of Avon Timberline in a car decanter.  Good choice kid, and one I enjoy too.  (I’ll find another).  I told him to pick another too and he chose a bottle of Drakkar Noir that frankly I’ll be glad to get shut of.  I made sure his mom liked it, he liked it, and I’m guessing his Dad will too.  Me?  Not so much.  The bottle was a gift from my bride who loves the scent.  But me?  Not so much.  It’s probably 10 years old and evaporation will have used more of the juice than I have.  I’d wear it for her on occasional date nights and anniversary dinners and such but boy howdy that stuff stunk.  I didn’t care for it when it came out in the mid 80’s although I recognize I’m the odd man out.  Aromatic Fougeres?  I like em.  Tabac is great.  Vintage powerhouse Brut?  You bet.  Polo green?  My heavens yes. But this putrefaction Guy Laroche sprung on an unsuspecting populace?  Douche move there Guy.  I am over the moon to get that albatross off my neck in a way that makes my bride happy.  I’ll stumble across another bottle of Avon Timberline and pick it up.  But if another bottle of Drakkar shows up I’ll be calling the kid!

Hey Matt, I have to admit that I don't mind Drakkar Noir every once in a while.  For me, though, the biggest stinker on the market right now is the bloody awful Dior Sauvage.  Absolutely putrid.  What I don't understand is why Christian Dior named it Sauvage when they already have (the absolutely terrific) Eau Sauvage and the two are not even remotely alike.  I'm sure that one or two of our members might actually sing the praises of Sauvage but I can't get near it.  Once again, scent is so incredibly subjective.

lol, add me too. My GF gifted to me because she loves it. I have a few colognes I rotate and she loves it when I use Sauvage. I only use one spray on my chest and it lasts all day and the projection is insane even on the summer months where I work in a hot warehouse.

Unfortunately, my son doesn't have any interest in traditional wet shaving.  I did teach my oldest grandson to shave, but he doesn't want to take the time to shave the way I do.  Well, I still have 3 more grandsons who have yet to reach shaving age.  There's still hope!

I was never a Drakkar man.  My frag of choice since my late teens has been Polo Green.  My wife loved it from the time we met and it still has the same affect on her 30+yrs later. 
I now have Stirling Green shaving soap and aftershave, so we can have the whole experience.

It sounds like all of you would like the new sauvage elixir which doesn't smell anything close to the original line and has a throwback feel (lavender).
