Took me a while to finally get to this soap maker, after all the soap choices and makers out there are endless. This makers soaps are fantastic. Don't know what else to really say. From packaging, to scent, to performance. Pretty incredible. After I used this soap the first time and after using it for a week, I ordered all their offerings. Incredible stuff if you haven't tried it.

steeleshaves what's the consistency of it? I've heard it's nearly a cream.

It's definitely a softer soap but it's far from a cream. Its got the same consistency as a lot of razo rocks soaps (amici and holy cannoli are the same level of softness) definitely softer than a soap commander or tiki product though. It's a vegan soap that feels and performs like a tallow soap. I don't think a lot of vegan soaps perform that way. It's some pretty good stuff albeit more expensive than some offerings out there in the market.

Thanks. I've had my eye on 1803 since it came out.

Definately agree Steeleshaves, I have tried the Aphrodite scent and it's very nice. I remember the scent being quite strong which I really like. The package design is very good..I like the fact they they do smaller sizes.

I found Dr Jon's to be very responsive to queries, communication was excellent.

I am a big fan too, hydra is a fantastic Citrus scent if anyone hasn't tried it. As for the consistency it is very soft but has enough resistance when loading to call it a croap.

I like the sound of 1803, will look out for some sect descriptions.

Also said above but worth another mention is that his 2oz tins are a good buy.

I haven't had any experience with their soaps, but I did try a sample of the Gold Label aftershave. It was downright nasty! I used it once and it went straight into the trash after that. It had a funky kind of cat pee smell to it, not good.

Gold label is a rich tobacco scent and has slot of spice to it. I don't think it's an offensive aftershave but,is one I use in the winter when I'm going to be huddled up inside by the fire. There are a million worse scented aftershaves out there lilac vegetal, special reserve, brut, midnight stag, Floid black, to name a few.... Those to me, are far worse than gold label by Dr. Jons. That said it's the least favorite of their aftershaves for me.

I was expecting a spicy tobacco scent. Maybe the sample I got went bad or something. I can't imagine it was intentional for it to smell like it did.

Not understanding the lack of anything about Dr. John's on any forums. So far I have tried Anne Bonney (black tea infused bay rum) and Hydra (citrus) soaps, plus Hydra aftershave. I like both soaps a lot. They do everything I ask out of of a shave soap and are very easy to lather. The Hydra aftershave has incredible post-shave feeling - can't stop faceturbating when I use it.
