Gents,

I just snagged this brute off of eBay.  It is a 15/16 Douris straight razor without a tail.  I have never heard of this company, and I know that before stubtail razors were made, they were made without tails.

That’s all I know, and I have no information about this razor.  The seller thought very highly of it, and so I figured why not.

Perhaps it’s a rare bird?

Does anyone have any additional information?

Thanks!

I did find out that it was not made by Douris Chastel.

Gents,

I contacted the seller, and he said that the razor was purchased years ago from a collector in France, and that he believed the razor was made circa 1874 in or around Thiers!

In addition, he gave this digital document which was original, and came with the razor...something about the razor maker wanting to protect his mark.

The seller is going to see if he can find the document, and send it along as well!

Fingers crossed, and neat stuff!
