I then made a list, and each night I refer to it to see which soap to use next. This is to encourage me to use the ones I tended to skip over.
Because there are multiple scents by the same manufacturer, I went by the name of that particular scent where possible. That way I wouldn't end up with, say, a week of TOBS.

Some of these are four years old. The C&E Sienna is something like 15-20 years old.

(Ignore the fact that the Omega in the transparent green tub is way out of order., and the six Fendrihan sample jars are all bunched together.)
No more shopping until at least one row (not the bottom one) is gone. Angel
Yeah, right.  Dodgy

Nice idea and goal. I enjoy variety but also being able to chose daily what I am in the mood for. Had 4 shelves full of soap and pif'd, traded and sold till I'm finally down to 2 shelves that feel more manageable. Most all shown here except samples and some vintage Williams and Colgate pucks. Had 125 soaps and now at around 50 so I've made good progress and am in good shape for a 1508.5 and first victim to be the go to every other day will be Hook. Time to organize and bring some aftershave or frags back to the bottom 2 shelves that are in the spare room.

OK, so I seem to have acquired 200+ soaps and creams over the past 6 years of traditional shaving. I know, because my sweet, young, and lovely took inventory "for me" during our last move.

There, that should make you feel better!  Cool

Im at somewhere around 180+. I like variety but sometimes i think about bringing the number down because i use each soap maybe 2 times a year.

My wife lets me know how much i have also. I just point to her shoes. Lol
I'm fine with culling things down and feel comfortable around the 50 mark . The only thing you guys help me do is convince my wife that I was normal at 130 Tongue

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. None of us are normal. Lol

Thats my problem. In my mind 50 sounds great but i have

20 stirlings
12 mystic waters
12 mickey lee soap works
15 tiki soaps
10 ariana and evans
10 mikes natural

Then a bunch of artisans i have like 4 or 5 from. I dont know where to cut back. I know. First world problems.

Fortunately, I ordered a backup from Stirling a couple of months ago.  ezlovan, this is just a shout out to thank you for the wonderful products at reasonable prices you produce for the community.

One of my favorite scents of all time. I'm sad to see it go especially since it is discontinued.

I wonder why he’s discontinuing it given it seems to be a very popular scent?

Don't you hate when that happens, and not just with scents but with soap lines (think Barrister & Mann's Latha line, for example or a company going out of business like Desmond's Barrow or Tim's).  Then, when it comes to eau de toilettes and colognes, there is the always dreaded word "reformulation", which is almost never a good sign.

Apparently the fragrance ingredients have gotten prohibitively expensive so it wouldn't be profitable for Dan to make it anymore.

Yeah sometimes it gets somewhat annoying. With the constant "base race" going on, some artisans feel pressure to update their formulas every year or two. I've found that sometimes I actually prefer some of the older bases that aren't being made anymore.

Finished a dollar store 'Old Spice' clone aftershave.

I had bought it for a forum member in the UK, but he backed out after finding out how much shipping would be, so I used it. It was not bad - just a basic aftershave.

Also finished off a stick of Klar Kabinett. This was another item that was distinctly okay. Nothing special. Lathered well, but not better than most other soaps, and the scent was 'meh!'. Usable, not objectionable, and not anything to write home about. It does last a while though. Still, there are so many other soaps that perform as well or better that I like more. I have another stick, but it will be a while before this makes it back into the den (if ever).
