That Bald Guy with the Big Beard
Bishop, CA
My beard is only this long for 2 reasons:

First-I have no idea how to properly trim and shape it

Second-Im toi lazy to learn how to properly trim and shape it

Its easier to simply let it grow, and see what it can do!

I think you have just come to your senses.

I have always shaved every day and for most of my 83 years it was a tedious, get it over with as soon as possible, chore.

About 4 years ago I met up with wet shaving.
I am hooked. What joy. What pleasure. What varieties. What challenges. What opportunities.

I feel the much longer time I now spend shaving improves my mental attitude and eagerness to face the day.

I just wish I could speed up the growth of my whiskers. They are so slow. I wonder if there is some kind of fertilizer.

Great post Mickey! Truer words were never spoken. I wish mine grew faster too. I feel I get a better shave if I have 2 or 3 days growth. Oh well. I'll keep on shaving daily, it's the best way to start the day!

I have never contemplated myself being an addict because I shave, every day. I believe this is quite normal.

The accumulation of brushes, razors, soaps, etcetera is a different story, all together. Big Grin

I tried growing a beard twice. About ten years apart.
Both attempts were dismal failures and I shamefully surrendered each after 5 days.
That second try was shortly after Yogi Berra, a very wise baseball player said "Deja vu all over again."

The growth was reasonable but my face felt like a thorny thicket and I kept scratching at it.
I became unbearable to myself.

If I could only transfer some of that growth energy to my head where it is really needed. Rolleyes

Some things are not to be.

I went through a similar phase. Prior to starting my wet shaving journey I shaved but as little as possible. A year into wetshaving I was at it every day and had new gear every other. Now, I have returned to every other day shaving and not shaving until my last day off. This keeps the whole thing fresh and as much I like wetshaving I find it important to give my skin a break from any form of sharp object.

I would not consider you an addict. I considered shaving with a cartridge razor and a can of Foamy was a necessary evil. However, I look forward to shaving every day. I also shower and wash my air every day and I do not consider my self an addict.

Regarding the question of being an addict, I guess I was more referring to the fact that I was purposefully not shaving that day, but still went ahead and lathered up just to get part of the experience in. I realize shaving everyday doesn't make you an addict per se...
