This is my first thread here because I've been seeking out an answer to something and these days, it's best to ask people who are knowledgeable rather than wander the internet.

I'm looking for a 2 or 3 blade cartridge razor that DOESN'T pivot, swivel, bend, flex, move, etc. I just want it to stay still. (non-disposable as well).
I've been using a Gillette Sensor Excel (2-blades) for years but this was discontinued and blades are getting harder & more expensive to find. So I recently switched to a safety razor which is OK, but I don't really like how wide it is or how it needs to be at a certain angle to cut properly (maybe I'm just not used to it), where as the cartridges automatically hold the blade at the correct angle, and are narrower.
At this point I'd keep the safety razor before moving to a pivoting cartridge.

Anybody have a product in mind?

Thanks

I don't use carts anymore unless traveling, but picked up this Kai set simply because it looked sleek and cool. Have not used it yet since never got to travel after purchasing it. It's a 2 blade cart. Have used Kai single edge pivoting head before this and one cart lasted for 2-3 shaves. Priced at approx 2.5 usd.

I was never a fan of the pivot but just used to use my index finger on the back side of the head to prevent it during the shave.

Have you ever tried either a double edge or single edge razor?  Since you are used to adjusting the shave angle to accommodate a fixed head razor (albeit two bladed), you should have little difficulty learning to use a single blade razor. There are wide variety of razors and blades available so you can find something that works for you.

yea, I've been using a double-sided safety razor.
I'm surprised a non-pivoting cartridge system is so hard to find in 2020.

I suspect the makers of cartridge razors make more profit on the  pivoting cartridges with multiple blade, so they dropped the less profitable older cartridge models.

You might want to look at some of the single-edge razor models available. There are essentially three types. One are the injector razors modeled after the Schick injector models of yore. You can still purchase the injector blades and either vintage or new injector razors.

The second type is the GEM style razor. You can buy vintage razors and there are a few companies who make new razors who use the GEM blades.  The blades used in these razors look like utility style razor blades, but the blades designed for shaving are far sharper and smoother than the utility blades.

Then the third are the single-edge razors that use the Feather Artist Club razors. The Artist Club blades comes in three levels of aggression. These razors are typically more expensive, but they can give an incredible shave and last for the rest of your life. The Artist Club blades are rather expensive, but they are long lasting, so the cost per shave is reasonable. I have an Above the Tie SE1 razor; it gives a great shave.

The early double blade cartridge razors like the Gillette Trac II and Sensor Excel were an outgrowth of the twin injector razors. Although Schick invented the injector razor, Gillette developed their own Twinjector razors. I do not think you can still purchase the twin injector blades these days, but you might find the SE injector razors to give a similar shave.

The Japanese Feather MR3 cartridge razor handle has a switch that lets you choose whether you want it to pivot or not. Available from Bullgoose or from Japanese sellers on Ebay (cheaper but slower).

...it's not as smooth as a Gillette, though...
