They were In stock for over 5 hours. Either there were lots of them, or the demand is just not there. I got one from the first batch and, I've used almost exclusively since. I took a small break to give a couple of Wolfman razors a try, but just keep going back to the DLC Hawk.

What I found frustrating is that my friend and I each gave our e-mail addresses for when they became available but neither of us ever heard.  If it hadn't have been for 1morepasswill having found out it was available and texting me, both my friend and I would have missed it.  At the time, my friend had taken his son to the movies so he would not have known.  Not wanting him to miss out, I took a chance and ordered one for him, as well as one for me, and he was really glad that I did.  I wonder how many signed up for e-mail notification and found out in a roundabout way instead, the way I did.

This happened to me with the Baby Smooth in titanium. But I actually wasn’t surprised. As far as I know, the way this works is that they have an e-mail list whose order is determined by the time each address signed up. When a new batch of product becomes available, they send out a corresponding number of e-mails in that same order. So if you have signed up but don’t get an e-mail, it could mean that your e-mail will come up when the next batch is released.

The thing is, anyone can happen on the product page and make an order as long as there is stock available. So it’s not a perfect system. But I guess it might still be better than some other systems. Perhaps.

Whenever I go to shave, I assume there’s someone else on the planet shaving, so I say “I’m gonna go shave, too.”

the email notification goes by order. For example if there are 500 razors in stock, 1000 notifications and you are lets say # 755 notification participant then you wont get the notification, they will only send out 500 notifications to the first 500 that applied for notification.

BTW the SS DLS Hawks were in store for longer than 3 hours, he said on twitter that there is a big stash in the store

Just came in today. I'm surprised at the fit, finish and overall quality of the razor. And for $60?  If it shaves as good as it's price point, this just might be the deal of the decade. Has good weight and balance to it. Hopefully I can get in a shave with it tonight and if not, will get one in bright and early tomorrow morning and see how it compares to the Brass General & the Rx........

I had the aluminum Hawk and I liked it. Then I purchased the stainless steel version (natural, not DLC coated) so I sold the aluminum one. Then I decided that I wanted the aluminum version again so I ordered one. Now, I'm still undecided about which one I like most. I think I shave more comfortably with the aluminum one but I like the feeling in my hand of the weight of the steel so now I use the aluminum head with an Ikon bulldog handle (that has a better grip than the steel handle of the Hawk). Long story short, it's a great razor, regardeless of the material.

I was a lover of the Mongoose V2 (stainless and mine was ceracoted). I just got the aluminum Hawk and the first shave was not smooth at all. Can you share how many days growth you are usually shaving off and what blade is working well for you? Thanks!

Sure. I shave every day. At the beginning my preference was for the Feather ProGuard, but after few weeks I switched to the Feather Professional.

Got my first shave in this morning with the RazoRock SS DLC Hawk SE. Paired it with a 5 times used Feather Pro and it was a very good shave indeed. Smooth 2 pass shave with minor touch ups and light buffing, BBS all around. I can feel the blade just a tiny bit more than on the Brass General, but just as smooth and efficient. No where the aggressiveness of my Rx or the IKON El Jefe, but closer to a shave feel to the Brass General with just a touch more of an aggressive shave. Very small, but noticeable. And I like it!
Very well balanced in the hand, with a very intuitive shave angle that just mows through the whiskers. Not as heavy as the Brass General, but more than enough to just let the weight of the razor do its magic. Not a single issue with the handle, very comfy and secure grip. If it falls out of your hands, you dropped it because this baby won't slip no matter how much lather is on it.

First shave, but I am impressed with the overall quality of the shave and the razor itself. Very well made and a preciseness that is in the realm of razors costing 2-3 times as much. Joe at Italian Barber can double the price easily, and I'd still buy it. More shaves coming, but from this one I can say it's a keeper....Happy2
