This is pretty much the only razor I use. Works well with lots of different blades. Just follow the angle of the top cap and you don't need to worry about finding the sweet spot.

3 shaves in so far with the SS DLC Hawk, and it has performed very, very well. First two shaves were with a Feather Pro, and it was very efficient and smooth. Though I used a 5 times used blade it performed nicely.  Then yesterdays shave was with a Schick Proline first time use and whoa! Perhaps just as sharp as a Pro, but much smoother and forgiving. Really nice blade paired with this razor. So far, so good. Few more shaves to get in and see what happens......

Just an update on this razor:

Haven't used the RR SS DLC Hawk in some time. So out it came. Paired it with a Schick Proline and it shaved really well. Though I prefer a Feather Pro Super as the Hawk is very mild, nonetheless the Hawk & Proline worked very well together.

I've had the DLC Hawk for about 4 months now and have shaved with it at least a dozen times, I would think it is an excellent razor for the individual who is looking to try out for the first time an AC style bladed razor. Mild yet pretty efficient, almost on par with the Brass General and they both shave brilliantly with a Pro Super. Good balance, heft and feel. The handle is love/hate, it's ok for me. Blades are held securely with no movement whatsoever. Precise machining and tight tolerances for a razor that sells for just $60. Add that it's SS and coated is one heck of a deal. Though the coating kind of wears off on the threads and where the handle meets the base plate, does nothing to hinder performance. It's a good, solid AC style razor that a true greenhorn to seasoned vet can get great shaves with.

Unfortunately, no one knows if RazoRock will be bringing these back anytime soon. And these razors don't pop up too often on the BST or auction sites. That should tell you something. They work and are a great value. But if you happen to see one, I'd highly recommend picking one up. And don't be afraid of throwing in a Feather Super in it. That's when it really shines.....

I wish i kept mine. I really enjoyed both the original aluminum version and the DLC SS version. The only reason that i got rid of them both was because i purchased a SS Mongoose II. i later purchased the new and improved V2 hawk and have really enjoyed using it. based on the performance and overall design of the V2 im very excited for the upcoming SS version.

I have the Mongoose, too. It's performance is similar to the Hawk, IMO, but the Hawk is a better value.

If it was an only choice between ~same priced SS HAWK v1\2 vs SS General, what would you prefer ? (input data: you\i have alumigoose)

The SS Hawk is my go to razor and has been since February when it came out. The RX is a close second. For me, I find that the Hawk hold the blades in a way that give me the optimal cutting angle whereas the General hold the blade in a way that makes me feel more like it is scraping. I'm using a Feather super right now, but Schick Proline, Kai Mild, and Kai ProGuard all worked for me. The ProGuard is what I use on vacation so that I can shave quickly.

If I had to keep only 1 razor, this would be it. I'd pick this over my Wolfman any day.

We are currently weighing the idea of bringing to market a V3 version of the Hawk, in polished 316L Stainless Steel only, with a slightly increased gap gap and blade exposure. I will announce more news on our social media pages once I make a decision.

Thank you guys for the nice support and compliments in this thread. It's nice to read when the products you pour your heart and soul into, are appreciated.

A V3? In SS polish? You certainly would have my attention with that. A little more blade exposure and gap would be icing on the cake for the Hawk. Not that the DLC Hawk is a slouch, but a bit more efficiency while retaining smoothness would be a definite plus. Looking forward to a potential release.
I would also like to take a moment and say "Thank You" for creating and providing some very well designed and high quality shaving razors at incredibly affordable pricing to the masses. Wish more artisan razor creators would take a similar approach, but that's  a topic of discussion for another time and thread. Truly, we appreciate your efforts in producing quality products that all in the wet shaving world can enjoy..... Thanks again. Happy2
