yes..both were pretty boozy. I only added more bay EO to the 1 batch to see how it does after I check it again in a week. if it help to cut the boozy scent, I'll add more bay EO to the 2nd batch too.

I ended up adding another 5-6 drops of bay EO to batch #1 maybe 7-10 days ago as well as ~10 drops of bay EO to batch #2 around the same time. batch #1 just crossed over 4 weeks 2 days ago and batch #2 will be at 4 weeks tomorrow. I'll probably let them go until this weekend so both will have been sitting for roughly 5 weeks or so.

Is the Bay EO getting muted or otherwise overpowered by some of the other notes with time or were you just conservative with the bay at the outset?

I smelled a bit of the rum alcohol...I wanted to cut it back some. I probably used too little bay EO initially (30-35 drops) being that I had 20oz of liquid between the 190 proof alcohol, witch hazel and rum. I think I ended up with roughly 45-50 drops of bay EO. we'll see how it goes when I strain it this weekend and put it back in a clean mason jar...until I get some aftershave bottles to use.

Out of curiosity and professed ignorance, would it be desirable to have such a high concentration of alcohol in an aftershave versus a frag?

Almost all of the DIY bay rum recipes I saw used a pretty decent amount of alcohol.

here's some photos I took on 2/9/21 at 1am..

batch 1, unshaken:

as you can see, it looks like the oils have floated to the top. it's probably a mix of the glycerin, vitamin E and bay EO.

batch 1 shaken vigorously:

batch 2, unshaken:

both batches sitting on the shelf a minute or 2 after shaking them...they look like mud!

Would the addition of some polysorbate 20 help in keeping everything in suspension/solution?
