Does anyone know how many iterations of the Schick Krona there were?  I recently picked up one gold and one silver and the first thing I noticed was the drastic weight difference.  Then upon closer inspection I realized the heads were slightly different.  I know that among the silver variants there is a silver TTO knob and a black plastic TTO knob (this is the one I own).  So there are at least 3 variations.  I’m wondering within those three if there are even more models with slight differences.

Don't know if there's a rule against links to other forums but here's one:

This is another link from a different forum with some data points and attachments. The difference in weight you mentioned might have to do with metal components being swapped out for plastic.

Thanks for the links, I’ll look more into those.  A quick glance at the TSD thread says there are at least six variations, or seven I guess since it doesn’t include the gold model I have.

Here are the weights of my two models.  I would call it a significant difference.

Definitely so, that's a 50% increase in weight!
I actually just weighed out the 2 Kronas that I have, one has the plastic black-tipped handle like your first one and that also weighed in at 37g. Does yours have Schick and Krona imprinted on the top?
The second one is like your second one but not gold, and that weighed in at 55g like yours. This one doesn't have any imprinting on the top.

Double “Schick” for the silver one and my gold has no imprint on top.

Oops that's actually what mine has as well, Schick on both.
I'm not sure that I've ever compared them closely but I just noticed there are several differences in the heads as well. End tabs, inner portion of the safety bar that are viewable through the side opening, and especially the underside of the razor head.

At one time I had three "Kronas", One with nothing on the head & silver bottom knob, one with Schick on both sides of the head and a plastic bottom knob and one with Krona on both sides of the head and a plastic bottom knob.  So adding in the Gold version, that would make 4 I know of.  I think I remember reading of another version with a smaller silver bottom knob.  Supposedly the razor isn't a Krona until it has that stamped on the head. There also was others out there with different lifter mechanisms & center bars. Like in their injector line, they often used parts left over to make "hybrids" IMO.

Regardless of the number of variations, they still are a great razor.

Did not even know this existed!  Thank you for sharing.  Do you know how many were produced?  Any photos of the head and how it adjusted?
