That is really a huge die! I guess it doesn't really matter if you count total passes or just the shaves, so long as you're consistent. I now have several sets of dice, so I can mix them to get counts higher than 12.
Another option... a set of d10s, which will allow you to count to 100. Surely you don't go for 101+ shaves on a 20¢ blade?!

This is from one of my sets of Chessex Dragon Dice. Cheap and easy enough to obtain. [Image: 65138497cafa45d0e37924426440b655.jpg]

Lol. I have my sets (5 I think) from when I played roleplaying games. I used to use the d10s because they have a zero - when I load a blade but don't use it yet.

Since I really never go over 4 shaves on a blade, I went to these smaller (10mm?) D6s, with the 6 sharpie'd out to be my indicator for 'No Shaves'. Not perfect, but it's something until I find a 0-5 d6 in 10mm. [Image: 2628db692a30bb4c40642c585ac6ca08.jpg]

I seldom use any of mine anymore as I can use a dry erase marker on the cabinet shelf side where they hang and indicate kind of blade and # of uses

Wow, that's nice!

Nice and easy to note the shaves. The storage is awesome, too. That's a lot o' tools in a small area. Great use of space!
