I had a 5 pack of these lying around for a while - somebody threw them into an order, probably Fendrihan because that's the only place up here I can find them now and I know I didn't buy them.  I decided to give them a try because the package says that they're coated with  Chromium-Ceramic-Platinum-Tungsten and Polymer, basically all the coatings.  Thats like having side bacon, back bacon, sausages and ham with your eggs for breakfast, ie, all the breakfast meats  Happy2  I put the blade into the Rockwell 6s on 4 and went after 2 days growth using Wholly Kaw Entropy Man.  I had an awesome shave.  I think I will buy some more of these blades.

So to update, I bought a 100 pack of the Derby Premium blades from Fendrihan.  I also figured I'd try the Derby Extra Super Stainless because they seem to have all the same coatings as the Premium.  Nope, I found the Extra Super Stainless to be a bit harsh and not sharp enough. Batting .50. Happy2

I have never tried the Derby Premium blades. The Derby Extras are not nearly sharp enough for my beard.

Which other blades would you consider the Derby Premium blades to be similar to in sharpness and smoothness?

Hi RayClem , I think maybe the Rapira Platinum Lux - blades that seem nice, sharp and smooth for probably 3 shaves then don't do the job anymore.  You know, you can hear and feel the blade engaging the whiskers but when you run your fingers over the spot after the pass the whiskers are still there.  The Derby Premium gave me about 3 great shaves.  I like the blade though, and I like the Rapira Platinum Lux but if I want 6 great shaves from the same blade a Feather is up to that job.  Some others too.  I wouldn't bother with the Derby Extra Super Stainless - not sharp enough and a little harsh.

Thanks Marko.

Since you are very sharp blades like Feather, I was surprised that you considered Derby Premiun be as good as Rapira Platinum Lux. I put RPL blades in the same category as Gillette Silver Blue, Gillette Paltinum, and Polsilver.  Once again, blades are so YMMV.

As you know, blades work differently in different razors.  I've been using the Rockwell 6s mostly these days so my assessment of the Derby Premium is restricted to that razor.  In that razor I'd place the Polsilver above the RPL and the Derby Premium.  I haven't used any Gillettes for a while so I won't comment on those.

Thanks. That puts things in much clearer perspective. I think I will pass on the Derby Premiums.
