DE vs SE

This is great information.  I have been getting great shaves with my ATT, but I could not help but wonder if I was missing out on something.  It sounds as though it does not necessarily offer a better shave but rather an different experience/variety.

That would be a rather foolish place to start. Anything in the 1912 family or an Autostrop VC1 would certainly tell you what you need to know with $140 dollars saved.

I'm with jmudrick here: get a Gem or an Everready, some blades and amaze the hell out of yourself. Like ShadowsDad says: the sound of buttering toast has never left you so smooth.

Feather Artist Club blades are the best blades I've ever tried, and I've been at this pretty intensively for six years. And they also work in the Kai Captain Excelia and Feather Artist Club straight razors, another whole level of experience. The ATT SE2 + Feather AC Pro Super is the most effective razor+blade combination I've ever used, bar none.

I am certain this will generate disagreement...but I will not use a previously owned razor. Unless they are run through an autoclave they will not be properly sterilized.

Thanks for the feedback. Maybe I will give the SE1 a try (I prefer SB). Which handle do you pair with it?

I'd recommend a Supply Provisions injector razor. It'll cost you $75, is stainless steel, and shaves like a dream.

In forums with thousands of vintage razor users yes you'd be a minority voice I imagine. But not worth debating. That's more for the rest of us as far as I'm concerned.
