1st test was without an external and it was so so. Got the external and got nothing soundwise. There are no settings. Select either external or internal but no adjustment up or down. I'm not waisting a lot of time on this stuff as I don't want it to be a project.

ok, quick search on your camera ek7000, it needs its own mic, third party won't work with it.

AKASO External Microphone

I appreciate you wanting to help but I got the correct microphone made by Akaso and it is useless. I actually just looked at some reviews with one star and they all state the exact same thing that it was worse with the microphone.

hope you got it from amazon, return it and try another brand, or ya know, not sure what phone you have, phone videos and audio are okay as you are upclose to a mirror, i seen videos from android and iphones that comes out pretty well and they do record in 4k.

Choice is yours, just brainstorming and rambling.

edit: im sure you can record with your phone on a tree too =P

Dave, Great upgrade on video quality overall. Two things I noticed:

- Fisheye distortion. All of the action cams have some level of fisheye given the wide angle nature of the lens. It seemed pretty heavy at the edges of the frame since you are relatively close to the camera. A lot of basic editing tools will help remove that in a post production step. As long as you are in the center of the frame it doesn't really affect you. Just something that I noticed.

- Regarding sound. You mentioned you had the mic clipped to something. That made me think you might be using a lavalier style mic? (e.g. The small ones that clip to a shirt etc and you typically see in a lot of video interviews). If so, it is unlikely you will get meaningful volume unless it is clipped to your shirt near your mouth. Those mics, and many others, are designed to be fairly directional in audio capture range to block unwanted noise and other voices around you. So as you move the mic away from your face, the audio level will drop off fairly quickly. For off mic work, many use some type of "boom" mic that can be out of frame but aimed at you. There are some small format versions of those that can attach to a small camera rig. You could also use something more omnidirectional but it can start picking up a lot of surrounding noises. I realize it is another step but you could also just record the audio separately though a dedicated interface and combine with the video in post, probably more steps/work than desired .

I believe this to be a Vegan soap (CORRECTION , TALLOW) but unsure as the ingredients aren't in English. Included a pic if someone is interested enough to translate for yourself. I may have pushed the water band on it since I was bowl lathering which isn't my normal method but do it for samples. Still got a great lather for an enjoyable shave. I'm not a Bay Rum connoisseur but this is a nice scent and opens up even more on lathering and applying to the face. The Brush feels great in my large hands and is gorgeous to look at. Beautiful workmanship by Gile at TSR. This was a group buy i entered as I was exiting there due to time constraints and miss the great guys there to interact with. Wish them all the best and hope Everyone has a great day !!

Yeah. There are so many great shavers in so many great forums that it is impossible to keep tabs on every one in a meaningful way.

BTW the HOFFRITZ caught my eye, and for two reasons.  First it looks a lot like a Weck.  Does it shave like one?  Second because I recall a time when you explicitly moved away from shavettes/straights.  Does this indicate a renewed interest Dave?
Dave's interest has never left completely. He loves the idea of shaving with one and keeps a couple around just to scratch the itch. He just never gets a shave close enough to satisfy himself. Why is he talking in the third person ? The Hoffritz I saw for the first time and never saw before which is a definite trigger for me to pick it up. I've had it a little while now. This wasn't it's first use and yes it shaves exactly like a wreck. It has a mechanism to slide and eject the blade which is pretty cool. It'll come out once in a blue moon but never anticipate it bring a regular thing to use for me. I get great shaves with safety razors so stick with them for the most part. Pull a shavette out sporadically to remind myself I can use it but not effectively. Thanks Mike
Thanks Dave.

Well the "New Camera Blues" continues....Did a video review of the Watermelon Mint (WM) and talked LOUD for the whole video to help the volume boost only to find the camera wasn't activated on when I clicked the button Angry So Dave gets to type up what he can. I will do a video and use my Tablet again by Sat to ensure it working but give the highlights of this New release that is open for preorder next week. When I 1st opened the tub of soap and sniffed it I was like "Oh, that's nice and refreshing" and then thought....this reminds me of something. Took a few more whiffs and thought, I know and grabbed a tub of Greenfresh to smell. Yep, it has the mint similar to the Greenfresh. I then sniffed it a little more and could distinguish the 2 scents of the Mint and the Watermelon. The Mint comes to the fore but the Watermelon is there lurking to pop up and let you know it's there and not to forget it. That's what I'd expect as WM is not a strong scent for me to begin with. I will add though that when I took a sniff of the Splash I was like OH MY !! The Watermelon told Mint who was Boss and comes thru more clearly for sure, YES PLEASE. That was NICE and Well done Frank !! As I type this and sip my coffee I'm still getting the scent of the Watermelon and Mint with a slight cooling that lingers. Not too strong but refreshing. This I would use year round even if many would consider it a Summer scent. The artwork keeps getting better too Frank and I couldn't be happier to have this set and use it with all the other Ethos lineup in my den. Everyone have a great day !
