I think you may like it but I would wait to try on pass around first. This was in my restraint encouragement voice.....

So, Dave… what exactly do you hate about bowl lathering? I ask as a bowl latherer but definitely not a militant one. I really like my Captain’s Choice bowls. Ceramic and Copper (heavy). One thing that is mildly annoying is getting the right amount of soap smeared in. It’s usually too much and a certain aspect of my personality wants to get every speck “latherized” and that can take time. Also rinsing several shaves worth of soap down the drain afterwards is a tad irksome. I did go through a several year long period of face lathering a while back. Maybe…

One thing that is mildly annoying is getting the right amount of soap smeared in. It’s usually too much and a certain aspect of my personality wants to get every speck “latherized” and that can take time. Also rinsing several shaves worth of soap down the drain afterwards is a tad irksome. I did go through a several year long period of face lathering a while back. Maybe…

So I've had scuttles and currently maybe 4 bowls. I'm not against bowl lathering for those that enjoy it. For some reason it hurts my arthritic wrist and my bum shoulder lathering in the bowl more than face lathering. Why I  don't know but it is what it is. I also get better lathers when face lathering. I'm sure I'd get better if I practiced more with a bowl but I enjoy face lathering more and for me it's less painful.

PS - I don't worry about extra soap down the drain. I'd rather too much than not enough.

I'll need to be a quadriplegic before I grow a beard. Whiskers annoy me too much, even when I've grown a mustache I give up and shave it.

2nd shave with the La Faulx and this time I chose to amp it up a little with a Feather Pro Super blade which is wider and gives a little more exposure. This helped with the efficiency for me but maintained the smoothness and comfort. I do get a little drag from it and I'm not sure if it's the extra length on the baseplate or the relationship of the head designed angle versus the angle the blade is held. Either way this produced a very comfortable shave with a good efficiency. Not as good for me as some in efficiency but more comfortable than thise choices too. Looking forward to tomorrows shave and will clean and mail it off to ALI hopefully Monday. Have a great day everyone !

I think I mentioned this story in last year's restraint thread. When in high school and wanting every album or book or whatever, Dad used to tell us to write it on a slip of paper and put in the top dresser drawer for a week. If after a week the desire for that thing was still there, then make plans to buy it. 

Well, I am going to keep the La Faulx in the top drawer for a year! And patiently wait for my turn to try it out. Your notes are encouraging to read, but I will be strong and save my pennies for a planned purchase instead of an impulse purchase!

It’s amazing what we don’t need or buy after calm reflection and passage of a little time. My buying also dropped off after I deleted my PayPal account. Some merchants are offering Apple Pay,however, so that only worked for a while. 

Dave in KY  I hope it never comes to that. There’s always electric razors if the hands are no longer trustworthy.
