New word: Glamping!! I love it.

Interesting observation regarding the "indoor" campers. That park looks so relaxing (I think it's the bird song). And the temps you mentioned didn't sound like a deal breaker.

I worked two summers as a Michigan State Park ranger at Indian Lake State Park in Manistique, where I was teaching school during the school year and vicariously camping in the summers! Some good stories from those 2 summers, but I will share just one now. One of my duties was checking the sites early in the morning to compare what we had on the main board with which sites were actually occupied and posting the correct departure dates. This was 1993 and '94, so no computers. I would walk the campground, in my smart looking Dickies green slacks and tan shirt, saying good morning, answering questions, and trying not to appear to be begging for bacon or coffee! Nothing makes my stomach growl with hunger like campfire smoke mingled with fresh brewed coffee and of course the aphrodisiac of frying bacon!!

And even then, we had those huge silver Air Stream campers, and others, with a/c units on top, keeping the outside where it belonged!

I was never a big fan of camping. However, MaineYooper you are right -- there is NOTHING on this earth as magical as the morning scent of campfire, coffee, and bacon. That HAD to be what Eden smelled like on the first day Smile Your description viscerally transported me.

Neat sounding soap, and a good-looking Overlander!

I think we are of the same age, so were young men by the mid-eighties, but I still got hooked on Stranger Things! It is set in the mid-eighties, but the protagonists are middle school to freshman HS age. Sort of sci-fi, thriller, horror if the Goonies, ET, and Stephen King are mashed!

Morning is my best time for contemplation with coffee.

And camping. I have great memories of it, as my Dad took us out almost all summer long, as he taught high school chem and needed to recharge! Mom was a home maker, and she often joked about how she enjoyed camping after the fun of packing for 5 of us and meal planning for a week or two! Then to come home and face the laundry.
Prior to Dad's heart attack in '74, we only tent camped. I remember being "trapped" inside, but loved playing all sorts of games or reading or listening to the rain. Dad would often have these big heavy canvas tarps and he'd rig up some awning coming off the tent, and pull the picnic table under it or we'd set up chairs if not table (some sites were remote power company land that allowed camping). What I had driven from memory were the mosquitoes! But your comments brought it all back. Other than a bear (or, most likely, a raccoon!) going through camp, the whine of a mosquito in the dark when you are tucked up in your sleeping bag is the scariest thing, ha ha! This is when I probably first learned of Murphy's Law, the part about just as you fall asleep is when the whine is heard followed by the bite!

Some realize they made a roller guard they sold to use with the Gillette old types but fewer know the company had a complete Roller Guard Razor as well. I've had the Guard before in the green box and sold it as I acquired some time ago the actual Roller Guard Razor. The Guard does indeed actually roll as you shave. Some blade feel, but a mild yet efficient shave. Have a great day Everyone !
