The first thing I think is that Dave (aka Whiterook) very likely knows a lot more than me about vintage Schicks (and so does Dave aka Dave in KY for that matter).  That said, the razor looks as much like an L to my eye.  More importantly though, I see this item shown on ebay at prices that range from - fasten your seat belts please - $145 shipped from New York to $180+ $24 shipped from Japan.  Prices like those put my mind to rest real well, but then, I'm pretty happy with the collection of injectors that I already own (including an O clone).

OTOH what does interest me are the "Sputtom Blades".  Separate listings for NOS offerings of these blades are much more affordably priced.  So, what is a "sputtom" blade please?  Maybe my radar's busted, but I haven't heard them.  Are they stainless, and is there anything special about them?

I'm just guessing Mike but the word seems similar to one I saw before that simply meant in translation that it was a coated blade. (Sputtered) Just guessing it may mean the same. I also read that these 'Sputtom Blades" are garbage and tug.

Thanks Dave. That's good to know.

As near as I can determine, Sputtom means some kind of stainless steel.  If you do a proper search all manner of stainless items appear.  Now I have opened that package and have one of those blades in the razor with a few shaves on it.  They don't tug for me, and they sort if feel like Supply Black Label blades, or vice versa.  Pretty good, but this is just one blade and only four shaves in.  If you look at those ebay offerings, you'll see Feather razors that look like the L and one that is styled like the N.  This one appears to me to be styled like an O in the head area.  The shave is pretty close too, but certainly not worth those prices.

Thank you Whiterook.  I appreciate your intel on the Sputtoms, and besides everything else, you have actually held the razor in your hand, which counts for a lot too.  Nevertheless, the price of these razors speaks for itself, and it seems like at best, the sputtoms have no magic mojo.

It all adds up to a hard pass for me.

Tomorrow I'm off to Pine Top, KY to help with some Volunteer Disaster relief. I was asked to come do some preliminary inspections under a home to ensure it was safe for others to get underneath and rip out insulation. Also some debris removal from the yard. Demolition of out-buildings, dredging of creek. This area saw unprecedented flooding. They are accustom to some but I'm told this storm with the following flash flood caught all unaware and was 7 feet higher than anything they had previously experienced. Having lived thru flooding of my home as a child multiple times, my heart goes out to all that have been affected. Everyone  have a great day !

Pine Top is lucky to have you Dave. Flooding in Kentucky and Tennessee has made the national news, and the videos look pretty devastating. Best of luck in your travels, and as you yourself are fond of saying, be safe!

Echoing Mike, be safe. You are the kind of man that is an example of what a good man is. And I know you didn’t write what you did so we'd praise you. But in our crazy mixed up society, you are reminding us of how a good citizen and fellow American truly acts. May God bless you and especially all those in Pine Top who need it!

Thanks Eric and yeah was not looking for any praise. Kind thoughts are appreciated but more less just trying to draw attention to the plight that many are going through and not just in Kentucky. Just to name another location I think St Louis got slammed really bad as well around the same time with like 12 inches in a short span of time. I think it was St Louis? Somebody correct me if I'm wrong please!
