Hey Dave (Dave in KY),

I see from your post that you have what looks like the real deal - a vintage Type O.  There is a clone that looks similar, except that the clone lacks the Schick trademark. Have you shaved with the clone, and if so, how does it compare with the real deal?

--  Thanks Dave.

Yes, this is the original and has surprised me with the shaves. I've never used the clone so have no idea. Seems some say it's the same IIRC

Razor looks like a joy to use. Is that rubber "grippy" on the handle, making soapy hands firm in their grasping of the handle? In any event, looks sharp!
Thanks Eric, you don't want to blind buy one of these. I traded for this user grade a Nice brush. They go for stupid money normally. Were sold only in the Japanese market I believe. Yes grippy rubber, Thanks

I've only seen one other O go for less than three figures and I bought that one as well.  There is one on the Bay now for $150 starting bid. I don't see him getting that much, but you never know.   The clones are getting up there too.
Confused

Hey Dave in KY and Whiterook:  Thanks very much to both of you.

There is a general view that later model Schicks ( including EverSharp Schicks) became increasingly mild over time.  That would make the Type O as mild as they come.  In your experience, does the Type O seem to fit that mold, and how efficient is it?

It parts course with the normal mold as far as I'm concerned. It felt mild but gives me a 12 hour BBS. Other Dave will need to chime in. I expected mild and not as efficient but was pleasantly floored.

I put L-O in the mild-mannered, yet efficient column. I always get an easy three pass BBS with these. So for me that myth is both true and false.

Thanks Dave, it makes sense. It's probably just more comfortable handling it than my L Paul Revere Happy2

Thank you both very much.

FWIW I remembered seeing a series of Schick threads elsewhere and quickly found Schick Type D and O injectors for dummies, a thread started by a user who writes extensively about Schicks.    I also dug up my purchase records of an ebarbershop Type O Clone and some injector twin blades back in 2018.  FWIW the OP describes the clone as identical in look and performace to the Schick Type O, except for the omission of Schick branding.  It is not hard to find love for the clone, such as this other shaver's comments, just to pick one example.

It is relevant to note that 2018 was a tough year for me health wise.  I had three heart surgeries that year, and roughly a year's worth of prescriptions for enough blood thinner to make me bleed like a stuck pig.  IIRC 2018 was also the year I began having sporadic problems with my hand cramping up while holding a razor.  After snooping around the community for Type O info, seeing the Type O packaged with Twin blades, and hearing your (both Daves') comments, I am not surprised that the Type O and I did not bond at the time.  Alas, I do not think I bonded with much that year.  But putting water under the bridge aside, perhaps it is time for me to revisit the Type O, maybe restarting with a single blade this time.  One other thing.  Based on Dave's (Whiterook's) price comments, this may be of interest to some of you

Whole-hearted thanks again to Dave (Dave in KY) and Dave (Whiterook).

Thanks Mike, I have nearly or have had all that are there making it not worth the outlay at the moment. He won't want to break up the lot. We're bed shopping right by now as our king sleep number has died on my side after 23 years. Bedding sticker shock and hunting that right now.  Dodgy

Sorry to hear all you've gone thru but glad you are still fighting.

The type O was not sold in US stores, but they could be ordered by mail from Schick.  That is where this one came from, I believe.
