Scentsless Shaver
Oakland, ME
I hear you, Dave. I get to look at the shaving goods wall all day at work. And I keep looking at various foams and tubes, thinking, maybe it'd be okay in a pinch. Never is. Easier to grab a synth and a Stirling soap and get great lather fast than be disappointed in the latest offering from Nivea or Aveeno or whatever else I see. The only one that had some redeeming qualities was Kiss My Face unscentd, that I found at Hold My Wallet, I mean Whole Foods in Portland. But I found I still preferred tubs, and used up the cream for trying my hand at the super or uber lathers.

You have a great day, too!

I used their original when I first began shaving. It is slick... Seriously slick. I had no problems with the "soap" (I don't think it deserves that title, soap). I agree, the lack of lather really ruins it... Big-time. ALSO, and maybe it was just me (early me?) but it would gunk up my razor something fierce. I mean, nearly break out the jaws of life to remove the crap type of gunk up (yes, I'm exaggerating. Lol). Not worth it at all.

Like Eric said, bring a cheap soap and synth for travel. I have an empty travel tub (2oz) of Proraso green. Only scent they made in this size. I can easily scoop some soap in and use that. Its short and fairly compact in size. Bonus, if I decided to go with a cream (say, i scooped some TOBS cream into it) the cap on those Proraso tubs are built for loading / lathering in. Very resourceful little container, IMO.

Like many of my shave adventures recently, it was a cheap experiment. For the paltry few dollars you now know for sure that it's not a good item for you. You shared your experience and many can reap the benefits. Life is good.

My Dad told me Monday he wanted this Maple tree removed. He has it topped before years ago but it's grown and sheds limbs routinely and is close to the house. Slow progress as I'm a one man show. 9am picture

I spent the night here so I can do my work today so my shave was a travel kit I brought. Here is a 2:30 pm picture when my back said enough for the day. Will finish it Saturday morning. Have a great day folks !

Wow! That's quite the progress Dave, especially for a one man show.

Our nextdoor neighbor is having some trees removed this week. Keep in mind, we're in Upstate NY. Snow and ice and currently 7°, with highs of 25-30°. Yesterday, this guy was up in a tree, about 3-4 stories high, with a chainsaw strapped to his body, removing huge limbs a piece at a time. All I could think was, if he falls with that saw attached, what's the chances it'll impale him? Mind you, where it was dangling, it's more likely to cut into a leg or groin (Yikes!).

Stay safe out there!

Thanks Paul. Unusually warm right now mid 60's. In the cold like that would be less fun. I watch lots of Arborist videos that have me craving big time to get a harness, ropes, rigging and climbing spikes. If I was younger I probably would but that ship has sailed. Take care !

Just for fun! Reading Dave's post, seeing the saw at the base of the tree and then Paul's story, of course Monty Python came to mind!
