He would take a two horse wagon down to Baltimore and recruit men to work all week on the  construction site. Then on Friday they would be paid.  And he would take them back down to Baltimore for the weekend.
During the week they lived in tents. The first time it was raining. He showed up to the job at sunrise. And the guys were still in their tents.
He rounded em all up and said get your sorry asses outta bed we got brush to clear and burn.
They thought rain meant a day off. Nope it meant a little more kerosene to get it going. Then keeping it “good and hot”.
Ike Little was tough Irish Farmer that lived to 98.
I have no doubt you’ll get stuff done today Dave.

I'm part Irish so all I'm missing is the group of men that I need to recruit LOL

What?!  Are you saying my dream of being a stand up comic is unrealistic??  I just flew in from Baltimore and boy are my arms tired.  You know, I hate those Russian nesting dolls - they're so full of themselves.  I sold my vacuum cleaner the other day, it sucked.  All it was doing was collecting dust.    Thank you thank you, you're too kind.  I'm here all week two shows nightly. Great story, Ken Fluffy. I've no doubt I'd have been in the tent! When younger, my Dad kept a large 1/3 acre vegetable garden. He was a teacher, and this was is summer "fun". (His real fun was taking us camping for 2 weeks at a crack!). That garden kept us from canned veggies, little did we know. But we learned that a light rain or mist was great to work in. But he excused us from heavy rains! At the time, my brother and I felt too put upon, as cousins were allowed to do anything and nothing all the time, in order to "not waste their teenage years," as my aunt put it. Later, I'd like to say by Junior or Senior year, I realized what an advantage I and others with parents who had an over-active "teach them to work" attitude fared much better in the reality that awaited us upon graduation.

Hat's off to your great-grandpa!

Consecutive Daily Shaves - # 1185

Star of the show was the shave soap made in the UK which was new to me. I saw it was called Dave and the scent seemed to be in my wheelhouse so.....I would call it a Croap as it's soft but not to the point of a cream. It loads easy and takes water well and took to a nice sour cream consistency. The scent is nice and fresh and described by the maker (I agree) below:

The inspiration behind ‘DAVE’ comes from our founder’s father David, a great source of inspiration at Løthur. This was a man who was seldom found without a cup of the ‘good stuff’ in hand (English breakfast tea) and was rarely seen out of his sacred space, the back garden. David grew giant lilies, creeping jasmine, tall sweet peas and vibrant iris flowers.

DAVE opens with light, citrusy and fruity top notes, reminiscent of Darjeeling tea. It has a soft jasmine accord at its heart and is perfectly rooted with notes of assam and powdery iris root.

I have a loaner razor (Overlander) from Maine out for delivery today....Thanks Eric !! Have a Stupid Fun Day Folks !!

Lol. Not quite, but it seems to be good enough to nudge me to sell off the Henson. I'm skeptically saying it's my favorite razor now. Shocking as that sounds as the Henson was my #1 for quite a while. Though, If I'm being honest with myself, the aluminum for some reason, shaved better for me.

Regardless, The Overlander is quite a wonderful piece of design. Dave, I hope you like it as much as Eric and I did.

Great 1st outing with the Overlander. Basically a mindless shave. Withholding thoughts to get at least 1 more shave in tomorrow and see longevity of the shave lasting today. VERY happy to get to try this out....Thanks Eric MaineYooper
