Very interesting Dave.  This is the first time I have seen a GEM Reversible blade.  On top of that, yours looks in remarkable condition for a vintage blade.  Did you clean it up, and do you know if it is carbon steel?

On a separate note, I find it interesting that the packaging says "Hold flat against the face".

I'm assuming Carbon Steel and treating it as such but not sure. It just says "Heavy Rigid Steel" on the packaging. Thanks Happy2

Right in one! Some DE blades have that as well, and I have never seen or read why.

FWIW I did not really finish my thought about "hold flat against the face" on the package.  A lot of shavers, including me, shave with a very shallow angle when using modern GEM blades in vintage GEM razors, often riding the cap or thereabouts.  I think this is one of the reasons I prefer the Clog-Pruf over some other favorites, like the MMOC.  Right or wrong, I think the Clog-Pruf glides easier and still gives me great shaves.  At any rate, thinking back to the day when these blades were sold - and there were no forums or internet - it is easy to see why the manufacturer would have put that information on or in the packaging.  They also show that the razor must rest under the blade stops.  Living in an age of forums and youTube, I take that sort information for granted.  This reminds me not to.

Thanks Dave.  That does seem like the best bet.
